Following the great success of Betsy Clebsch's first book on salvias comes this expanded edition, The New Book of Salvias: Sages for Every Garden. Betsy has added more than 50 new species and cultivars such as Salvia castanea and S. recurva, bringing the total to approximately 150 beautiful, garden-worthy species and significant hybrids.
She documents them alphabetically and includes botanical descriptions, information on habit, blooming cycle, recommended companion plants, and delightful historical tidbits of discovery and usage. Nearly 100 new photos and illustrations make this new edition even more attractive than its predecessor.
This is a great salvia book. Lots of excellent photos although I find some are not quite clear enough or too small & it is difficult to tell what the blooms actually look like. I particularly like the sections that indicate the flowering guide by season, cold tolerance guide, shade tolerance guide & salvias for containers.
A must have for Salvia lovers, this is an updated edition of the 1997 edition "A Book of Salvias." Very easy to use and read, lots of pictures although they are fairly small.
Excellent book for those into salvias. Has cultural info., recommended companions, history of the plant and good pictures. Good index, organized very well.
