Hands down the only book a Coleophile needs. Extensive catalog of many popular and obscure varieities, with excellent pix. A very good chapter on Sports, reversions, mutations, expressions, ect. Superior growing info. My favorite book on Coleus (and the only one!)
Lots of photos, most of good quality. Only cultivars available in the USA seems to be present, European and Japanese cultivars are missing. The part about history and taxonomy is a bit weak and there is no information about hybridization. A good book for (US) gardeners that want to grow coleus in their garden or want to start a coleus collection.
Lots of photos of good quality. There is an encyclopedia of cultivars subdivided into trailing, distinctive leaf shapes and sizes, color or pattern, unique cultivars, and seed strains. 225 plus varieties are presented in last 100 pages of the book. The first 125 pages cover history, characteristics, designing, containers, topiaries, garden, culture, sports, propagation, and problems.
The last paragraph of the book acknowledges Dave's Garden as an excellent resource.
