What I learned: that true blue flowers are really rare...that most true blue flowers grow in alpine gardens, that is is not easy to create new blue flowers.
but....I really wanted to see BLUE flowers.
My first problem with the book was that not all of the flowers listings included photos.
Then, 90% of the flowers in the book were really shades of purple.
And hardiness zones were not included.

I really liked this book. It explained the chemical differences between blues, various shades of blue, whether or not we can call them blue, and so forth.

The only drawback is failure to mention hardiness. I had to look up a lot of plants on the lists. Still, I would recommend this book.

Is that Really a Blue Flower? What is in a Name? These are both sections from the book. A fun, interesting, useful read!
