The 21 gardeners or gardening couples are from Iowa, Alabama, New York City, Maine, Louisiana, California, Oregon, and many places in between.
Some sections will speak to the reader; others will not. But those sections will vary from reader to reader. A midwestern gardener with much space will probably not relate much to the apartment full of houseplants in NYC.
The photos are lovely, although not well captioned. The book tells the story of each gardener, the story behind the land and garden, and the gardener's vision. While not direct about it, the book does inspire a gardener to create his or her own vision, however bold or subtle. |
