A lovely book, with gorgeous photographs and informative text. The book is a personal account of the author's experience in her own garden in Ireland. (Her idea of a "small" garden, by the way, is 1 acre - small by British estate standards, perhaps, but still an extensive area filled with many garden rooms.) The author grows a wide array of both common and unusual plants, and shares her thoughts about how best to grow them, and how to incorporate them into the larger garden design. She is a creative and sophisticated gardener as well as a talented, witty writer. An entertaining and inspiring read.
