I live in northern MI and have found this book to be extremely helpful and very user friendly. It is divided into 4 sections, climbing vines, ferns, ground covers and ornamental grasses. Each section has a particular color of border. You can find specific plants by either their common name or scientific name. There are excellent pictures and symbols to let you know the exact needs of a particular plant. There is a zone map and the author also addresses environmental concerns. I use this book every day!!
