The book opens with a chapter on the Dynamics of a Shady Garden, proceeds to Measuring Shade, and then to my favorite, 'Problem shade/Problem Trees'-- worth the whole book. There are individual plant listings, appendices on attracting birds, "Deer, Oh Dear!" nursery sources, and plenty more. I can't think of a more complete book for the shade gardener.
