My neighbors and I have practically worn out my copy of this book in the process of picking the fruit trees for our gardens. I will never again just go to the nursery and buy whatever is there. From this book I have learned what is suited to my part of the country and what all that mumbo-jumbo about root stock is about. I have found wonderful mail-order nurseries all over the country and have filled my yard with fruit trees whose selection was guided by this wonderful book. My neighbors have done the same. This is a valuable reference book on fruit trees.
We purchased an home with a great home orchard. We have gotten into grafting additional fruit wood on to trees in our orchard as a way to add additional varieties since we have no additional room to plant new trees.
Wonderful resource and reference book. Note-- no pictures but will tell you where to get stuff and has a zillon listings. Lots of heirloom varieties listed.
