An historical account of 8 colonial Australian women and their gardens which during harsh times (drought, flood, isolation, homesickness, family deaths particularily those of children) were often their sanity saver. Beautiful photos, poetic quotes and diary entries.. Their gardens were often the only permissable way they could express their intelligence with all business affairs being handled by men, some of these women became quite expert at Botany and as generations passed women slowly came to the forefront as leading landscapers and garden designers. |
