I am in the process of de-lawn-ing my property. I live in Houston, TX and this is helpful to me because I have no formal training in designing landscapes. Some fairly concrete suggestions are made for certain dilemmas, such as blank walls, side yards, curbside strips, bird garden, landscaping a slope, or creating a water feature or arbors and fences. There is a section on how to build anything suggested in the book and a catalogue of plants used in each design with culture and care instructions. Soil prep and planting instructions are included. Excellent book to get your creative juices flowing with the concrete info needed to make the project a reality. I purchased the book after practically reading the whole thing in the book store.
