If you want the plants that actually grow in the Sonoran desert (Phoenix, Tucson and south into Sonora, Mexico) in your yard, this is the book to have. It gives a lot of complete information and the pictures make it useful as a plant ID guide out in the desert itself. Ms. Mielke (pronounced 'Milky') also has suggestions of how to use the plant in a landscape situation, which can be helpful - your only problem then will be actually finding a place that supplies the plant.
