One of my favourite perennial "tomes". (Plus the companion "Early" volume, plus the Herbs volume, plus the Annuals & Biennials volume.)
Lives on my desk in winter when I am writing up the year's nursery listing & lives beside my bed in summer & fall when I am looking for new plants to try & planning for next year.
Excellent photographs; especially good are the many photos taken of plants in garden settings/natural habitats (versus close-up shots alone). Really gives a good "feel" for what the plants look like.
The write-ups are very good as well; the hardiness info is very good considering it is rather an "English/European" book. Many interesting stories & lots of background/habitat info.
Serious perennial gardeners should invest in this one, with the companion volume. You will not regret it.
