Brilliant book - I use it in conjunction with the RHS A-Z; which has descriptions of 15,000 plants.
Between the two I find it much easier to identify plants, shrubs and trees - more necessary since I moved from England to live in coastal central Portugal!
Both were published pre-2004 and have damaged spines due to plenty of use.
I have the 2004 version, puiblished by Barnes & Noble: ISBN 0-7607-5973-1, and it is invaluable to me both at work (I work at a Garden Center) and at home.
It has good information on so many plants. I brought it to work a little over a year ago and we use it so much, I've had to use duct tape on it to keep it from falling apart!
I highly recommend this book.
