Steve founded Territorial Seeds, and has raised many test plots in addition to his own personal gardens. He gardens almost year-round, and provides practical ideas to do so with minimal cost.
In this book he covers everything, including best seed varieties for our climate, northwest soils and inexpensive optimum homemade organic fertilizers, composting, pests, cold frames, etc. His methods are almost totally organic and he explains why in practical terms. As a chemist I concur with his rare exceptions.
The biggest compliment I can pay Steve is that every time he recommended doing "A" and I did "B" instead, I was wrong!
