This book was disappointing. It has nice pretty pictures, but it's one of those fancy coffee-table books that doesn't have much substance. There is a single page spread for each topic, and very little actual information. About a quarter of the book is devoted to the relative merits of hardscaping surfaces which can reduce maintenance tasks. Then there are some sections with rather vague ideas for the actual plantings. Also some beginner type information about basic techniques such as watering, pruning, etc. There is a short directory of low-maintenance plants in the back. I enjoyed the pictures but didn't get much else out of this book.
