I have several of the Withner Cattleya series, and while they are interesting, the aren't going to "do it" for someone looking for information on how to grow Cattleyas and the conditions that need to be met in order to do so. These books are intended more to be scientific descriptions and in-field research of the various families of Cattleya and not "how to" books.

The books are valuable for the pictures if you are into species orchids, but the descriptions of the orchids that he gives are probably going to be above the head of everyone but the most dedicated orchidophile.
