I recently took out several different pruning books from the library, and this was the clear winner. As with all the DK books, the layout is clear and the diagrams easy to follow. Very useful!

This is a very thorough reference. The information is very good and easy to understand. It covers almost every pruning question that I’ve had.

A wonderful book. It has precise instructions for everything in my garden and everything in my 30-Year Plan: trees, ornamental shrubs, fruiting shrubs, conifers, and roses. Also has climbers, broadleaf evergreens, and fruit trees. How to prune a freshly planted tree or shrub, the first few years' pruning, pruning a mature specimen, disease, damage, renovation. Espalier, cordon, topiary, pollarding, standards, braiding trunks, pinch pruning, cascading chrysanthemums. When to call in an expert. Not only descriptions but also drawings and clear photographs. It even discusses tools!

I don't remember seeing bonsai but I believe it concentrates on plants grown outdoors.
