The fourth of the Botanica's Pocket series, this authoritative encyclopedia covers all aspects of the garden, from designing the style and structure, to propagating and caring for plants in a variety of growing environments. Supporting information, including hardiness zones, flowering times and space requirements, is arranged by plant groups for ease of reference. Whether the gardener is tending to a lawn, ornamental grasses, bamboo, fruit and nut trees, bulbs, corms, and tubers, cacti and succulents, vegetables and herbs, climbers, creepers, orchids, ferns, palms, cycads, or any combination, this book is the authority on making it all flourish.
This is one of my gardening "bibles". It has over 2000 plants listed and 1000 images. Most common garden plants are in here and include some historical information, origin and cultivation tips. Very good book for new gardeners and not too expensive....I paid $19.95 at Borders in 2003.
