If I could have only one garden book, this would be it. It comes in handy whether I'm choosing a plant for a problem space or a space for a plant I've bought on impulse. I love the way it is organized into lists (with pictures) of plants for every imaginable situation, and cross-referenced when a plant fits more than one category. A great reference for any gardener from beginner to expert!
My mother told me I needed this book and she was right! I find it a great book for all those little problem planting areas in the garden. Want to find a plant that will thrive in dry shade? No problem. Nicola has great suggestions for those awkward places and also gives general cultivation advice on the plants that are recommended. There are colour photos for the plants mentioned and a cross referencing systems for plants that are suitable for different positions. A handy book that will be useful for years.
