I met Felder Rushing a little over a year ago at a lecture he gave on garden art. A couple of weeks after we met, Felder contacted me about an idea he had for a book on plants for the northern growing zones. He wondered if I would be interested in helping him research material for the book. Of course I jumped at the chance and the end result: "Tough Plants For Northern Gardens."
This book is full of useful information about plants that are just what the title says: "Tough." This means that they grow almost without any help from the gardener. And they thrive in conditions northern gardeners know all too well; from winters with temperatures down to minus 20, to summers when temperatures are in the 80s and 90s.
Felder writes in an easy to read style, uses lots of beautiful photographs, and provides plenty of recommendations on plants that are widely available and easy to grow.
This book would be a great addition on the bookshelves of all northern gardeners.
