I think every Texas gardner has a copy of this book. Mine is well loved and well thumbed. I refer to this book every spring and fall, Texas's two gardening seasons! (In summer I just hide indoors.) The book has useful and practical regional information including specific varieties of each plant recommended for Texas.
This is the first gardening book I ever bought. Everyone I knew had a copy of this book on their shelf. Neil Sperry is the most well known (and most knowledgeable) Texas gardener.
Our daughter bought a house in Dallas -- far from home in PA -- and this book, loaned from a neighbor, gave us a great start in planning our daughter's garden.
