As it's name implies, this is a very basic book for growing annuals. It is great for the beginning gardener and its small size makes it a great reference manual to take to the nursery. This book is from the folks at Burpee, so you can trust their seed starting advice.I am somewhat of a novice gardener myself so I didn't think this book was too simple for me. I recommend this little book if you're just getting started with annuals and don't want to spend a lot of money on a book that weighs 20 lbs. and has 10 volumes. There is also the companion book- Burpee Basics:Perennials. I recommend it for the same reasons.
