The Garden Club of Virginia sponsors the Historic Garden Week (www.vagardenweek.org) each year in April where gardens, historic homes and garden tours are offered. The event takes place on different days over two weekends and the week days between them. The events occur in towns and cities accross Virginia on different days some over two days so it is possible to visit many varied gardens during the event.

We went to the Historic Garden week this year and it was fantastic! The Garden Club of Virginia funds garden restorations with the money raised. The club did an excellent job organizing the various town and regional clubs, the material via the guide book and web site, staffing the volunteers, to get all the directions, names, telephone numbers correct etc.

We visited the gardens in Charlottesville, Richmond, James River Plantations, Middle Pennisular and Williamsburg.

Highly recommend you check out Historic Garden week!
