Information on Agua Fria Nursery

May 2007 - I needed plant food and I decided to try the Agua Fria Nursery. Never having been there before, my eyes were bulging out of my head as I walked the grounds - I felt like I had just entered the Garden of Eden. I stood there staring at the great selection of plant foods and after less than 1 minute an employee asked if I needed help. I explained what I was looking for and was totally impressed by the knowledgeable response I got. Their knowledge of plants and science continues to amaze me and I wont shop anywhere else. I also like that this is a small family business.

If you are looking for a great selection of plants (and planting supplies) and a super knowledgeable staff, look no further, you have found your nursery!

This is a funky nursery, operated by a funky staff, but with a huge and interesting selection of native plants, drought resistant plants, and standard garden plants. Plants are generally in good to excellent condition except watch out for the tomato plants. One of their greenhouses gets too hot for tomatoes and the plants get diseases. Look at tomato plants before buying. That said, I still buy tomato plants there because they have more heirlooms than any nursery in Santa Fe. Probably more than any nursery in Albuquerque. Just be careful.
Agua Fria grows many of its own plants. I find their labeling usually accurate. They can't always find things they have, but they have more than anybody else in town.
For vegetable plants, they can't be beat, but they have great traditional garden plants, house plants, and native plants.
