I found this nursery shabby and disappointing. The cold frames were rife with weeds as were the plant containers. There were quite a few plants outside that looked as if they had black spot or some type of fungi on their leaves. The paths through the woods were strewn with tree limbs and difficult to walk through. Quite a few of the staked garden art were lying on the ground. If their garden center looks this bad what quality are the plants really going to be?

I have never ordered mail order from Niche, but I live close by and have visited it many times. It is relatively small, and definitely off the beaten track. They have the best selection of native plants in our area, do not sell invasives and have very knowledgeable and friendly staff. This is not your Home Depot kind of place - they sell hard to find natives, and particularly plants known to do well in North Carolina. It is occasionally hard to find staff members, especially during the week, since they are predominantly a mail order business, and since they grow the plants themselves, you get them at whatever stage they are at that time of the year.
