Most people go to Moody gardens for a family outing to the Imax theater and to visit the pyramids. I could go just to walk around the gardens outside!

Lets talk about the indoor activites first. In one pyramid, they feature an aquarium. You can walk through tunnels under water and see up close sharks, fish, and penguins. Very cool. I especially liked the penguin exhibit, which can also be viewed above ground. You need a few hours just to see everything in this one pyramid. It is the favorite spot for families.

And then there is the Rainforest pyramid (my favorite). It is a simulated rainforest with thousands of tropical plants and animals (birds, butterflies, insects, frogs, fish, etc). A great area for photos so bring your camera and plan to take your time in here. It is pretty hot of course, so dress accordingly.

Don't forget the Discovery Museum pyramid. And then there is the Imax theater and the ridefilm theater which moves around while you watch a video. everyone needs to experience these at least once in a lifetime.

Over the summer, you can visit palm beach, a man made white sand beach with huge pools and palm trees to relax under. It makes you feel like you have escaped to Florida. In the winter time, they put up millions of Christmas lights around the grounds for you to wander through. Beautiful!

As you can see there is a ton to do here, and you really need more than one day to see everything and be able to relax and not rush through. No worries for out-of-towners, there is a fantastic hotel on the grounds.

Now to my favorite part, the outdoor gardens. They have done superb landscaping around all of the buildings and throughout the complex. They have a gorgeous display of tropical plants and for garden nuts like me you can spend hours just walking around outide looking at the plants. Obviously this is not the thing most people are coming to Moody Gardens for, so you will probably be avoiding most of the crowds (yippee).
