This year I added Carmen Rio tulip bulbs to my annual order. I planted them in my Brooklyn, NY front garden. People walking by are constantly stopping and commenting (and taking pictures!) on the beauty and size of these and my American Dream tulips. Whenever I have the chance I tell people what a great company this is and the wonderful quality of their bulbs and their service. I am already planning my Fall 2008 purchases! |

I chose three colors of tulips to force and a bag of 100 paperwhites, because the prices were so low. I've never seen such huge healthy bulbs. I gave everyone I know paperwhites as holiday gifts, and finished forcing the last batch for Easter. These last bulbs were still totally viable, and in fact came into bloom in just two weeks! Wonderful bulbs! and a free coffee cup. |

On October 27, 2007, lifahlsing7 Valparaiso, IN wrote: The bulbs are of good quality but the service was not. They charged my debit card for a canceled order (due to not shipping per schedule) and would not credit my account. I had to call them several times over a couple of weeks to get them to act on this problem. Customer service has a attitude!!! Never use a debit card with this company. A credit card is better because they will protect you from this inconsiderant company. As a small business, it was frustrating to have my money tied up by colorblends. Company representative comment on October 31, 2007:
On Oct 31, 2007 5:07 PM, Colorblends (Schipper & Co. USA) added:We apologize for being slow on crediting this customers account. Our records
indicate the customer placed the order on October 7th. The order
was packed on October 8th. Recorded temperatures in the Chicago area were 87 degrees F on October 9th and 10th so we stopped shipping.
After temperatures cooled on October 11th the customers card was charged before shipping. Later that same day the order was cancelled because we could not honor an October 12th delivery date.
Our records indicate on October 17th we credited
her account back. Again we are sorry about the delay on crediting the account. |

On May 20, 2007, cathyb53 Newfield, NY (Zone 5a) wrote:Fantastic bulbs! Last fall I ordered from this company's gorgeous catalog for the first time, and I am pleased to add my praises to those cited here. I'd not ordered from them before, thinking their bulb blends were a little on the expensive side and preferring to use my own creativity in coordinating flowers & colors. Then, as I dithered over the selections offered by my usual bulb company (Van Engelen bulbs), I realized that it was getting late in the season and my dithering wasn't getting me anywhere except overwhelmed.
I ordered about 750 bulbs: an early-flowering mix of little bulbs (mostly species tulips, grape hyacinths, and other small early bulbs of early spring), a big mixed daffodils collection, some snowdrops, grape hyacinths, and scilla, and 2 different colorblended tulip mixes - The Rainbow Coalition (flaming orange, bright hot red, and a rich bright purple) & French Blend (a beautiful pastel mix of soft pinks & apricots). The bulbs arrived very promptly, and were packed better than any I've ever received, in mesh bags contained in a large, sturdy plastic crate.
Even though I couldn't get them all in the ground immediately, they held very nicely for me in my yard shed - no mushy, moldy, nasty bulbs, none to chuck over the fence for the squirrels to eat! The bulbs were so large and firm and clean that I knew they would give great flowers, and this spring I was thrilled to see that I was right.
These flowers are incredible! Huge, beautiful, well-mixed blooms, surpassing my expectations. I love tulips, all kinds & colors, but hadn't been able to grow them when we lived in town because the deer would beat me to them as soon as the tender shoots started to grow. Now that we live in the country, surprisingly the deer don't touch them - go figure! The flowers are almost too large to be true - more color per plant. Anyway, I just can't get over how gorgeous this year's display has been. The beauty and vigorous good health of the bulbs more than makes up for any slightly high cost, and best of all, the coordination of colors & bloom has been done for me - all I had to do was plant them, wait through the long winter, and enjoy their beauty.
Highly recommended! I plan to order from them again, now that I have 5 acres to fill. Let these pros do the fiddling around coordinating bloom dates, colors, & heights, while you just plant them & wait for the beauty.

If you compare the bulbs from this company with those from other vendors, , you will see a tremendous difference---bulbs are much larger, firmer, have none of those soft spots---just look very, very healthy!
Also, the bulbs are shipped in a plastic crate which is perfect for storage. I still use mine for other things.
My only regret is that I did not order any last fall----Time somehow got away from me, but I surely won't let this happen again.

I am extremely pleased to report that my first order from ColorBlends.com was an enjoyable, smooth, and overall excellent buying experience. Their web site is well organized and intuitive. When I called their toll-free number with questions, I spoke with a kind gentleman named Andre ~ who was polite, friendly, and helpful. Once ordered, my bulbs shipped the following day via UPS Ground and arrived the next ~ talk about efficiency! Their superb professional packing in strong, durable ventilated boxes (each strapped for added security) ensured my bulbs arrived safe and secure. ColorBlends' bulbs are vastly superior to anything I had examined at my local retail sources ~ and for substantially less cost (including their reasonable shipping costs, no less!) ~ now I know what bulbs are supposed to look like! They are clearly top shelf with their generous size and fresh, healthy appearance!! I ordered 1,900 bulbs (1,000 Starflower + Spanish Bluebells, Grape Hyacinth Blue Muscari, Tarda, Linifolia, & Clusiana Lady Jane). Each box contained clear planting instructions, a gorgeous catalog, my purchase invoice, and a bonus gift (a lovely wooden tulip in a vase). My spouse and I will be planting them all this weekend and look forward to a glorious color show next spring. In a word ~ OUTSTANDING!!! |

I only order from other bulb companies when Colorblends doesn't have something (unfortunately, they don't have as big a selection as some other companies do, but the high quality of what they do have more than makes up for it.) I highly recommend Colorblends. |

I will purchase ALL of my bulbs from them in the future. Great quality and fast shipping. A+++ |

The people are great to work with. I can't wait for the new catalog. Keep up the good work.

I laughed unpacking this huge container, feeling strangely like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s, The Sorcerer's Apprentice with tulip bulbs!
Their Going Baroque tulip selection is a mesmerizing collection of vivid rose and soft pink supported by pale blue lavender. The sweet fragrance of Ziva Paperwhites have lifted our spirits and perfumed our indoor air for two months.
Colorblends delivers freshly harvested, imported, premium quality, top-sized tulip, crocus, hyacinth, and daffodil bulbs at wholesale prices. Their quality is outstanding.

Okay, 1800 of them, many daffodils, alliums, squill, camassia, snake's head, crocuses... The bulbs were nearly all perfect, juicy, big, luscious. Of the 1800 I think there might have been one or two that I thought, well, maybe, maybe not. Not a single poor quality one in the lot. The first batch I ordered were so gorgeous that I called and ordered more. The guys on the phone actually remembered my previous order. They were always so amazingly pleasant and helpful and the orders came quickly and without a hitch and were beautifully packed. Absolutely amazing company. I wish I could run a business like this!
I am forcing some of the bulbs now and the daffs that are coming up aren't blooming yet but they look as healthy as can be, strong growth and all of them vigorous. |

In fall 2002 we moved into a brand new home with barely even grass, so I wanted something colorful coming up in the spring garden.
Coming from an apartment, I am a bulb novice, so the first order I placed over the phone with a very helpful customer service person (an art lost in the days of the internet). Subsequent orders have been done online in advance of the fall and were easy to do.
When I've had questions about planting, pests and orders, I have called and talked to Tim or Chris (Schipper) who have been very accomodating, knowledgable and helpful. Thanks guys!
Bulbs arrived each time in good shape, fat and healthy, and on time. Blooms on most all of them have been spectacular. In their 3rd season, the crocuses, tulips and allium, planted in a multi tiered bed, continue to come up.
My only disappointment were the Red Hyacinth. They never took off. Perhaps they were planted too deeply. Not sure.
If you have your heart set on a popular bulb or combination, order EARLY as they do sell out. They won't charge you til shipping time.
As for me:
I have nearly all of their Amaryllis bulbs which I plant in pots for winter and spring blooms indoors. They are awesome. Plant early enough for great results. Honestly, I forgot about them this winter--planted them in March and I still have great blooms now into May.
I have Tulips: Best Purple (under a European Red Beech tree), Stop the Car, Celebration (a truly amazing display!), Chiquita Bordeaux, Purple O'Hara
Daffodils: Delibes
Grape Hyacinth-Blue Muscari (planted with the daffodils)
Crocus: Razzle Dazzle
Alliums (my favorite!): Globemaster, Gladiator, Drumsticks (Sphaerocephalon)
I expand the Allium collection each year. This year I'll order white ones to go along with the purple.
I'll probably order more daffodils, as the bunnies and deer have now discovered the tulips and helped themselves to the buffet! |

It was delivered at the exact proper time for planting in my area and I was very pleased with the size and condition of the bulbs. The colors are an exciting mix of electric blue and bright, sunny yellow and they set one another off perfectly. Many of the daffodils have multiple blooms per bulb, and ALL of the bulbs have bloomed...not a single one missing. I am delighted with all my contacts with this company, and will be ordering again for fall 2005 planting. I am also going to recommend their fund-raising plan to my local Garden Club. |
