Some (Taxus brevifolia) were a bit smaller than I expected, others (Ch. lawsoniana and Calocedrus decurrens) were larger. All the plants are already in the ground and doing fine.
On average I am very satisfied with quality and price and will oder from them again. Wally was also fast and helpful to answer my questions before ordering, and the whole ordering procedure was simple. On May 5th, 2005, gowron added the following:
I placed a second order from Wally\'s potted plant sale. The plants just arrived and I was VERY pleasently surprised by the size and quality of the plants, and how well they put up with the one week lomg trip from Oregon to Georgia. The prices were very good too, and well worth the shipping cost, considering that I got large one and two gallon plants. And by the way, they charge for shipping only what UPS charges them - no hidden costs. You will not regret ordering from them. | | Positive | mouseman (14 reviews) | On February 26, 2005, mouseman wrote: I ordered from their bareroot sale last year and this year. My experience with the company has been completely positive. All the plants I have received have been strong and healthy. Last year's purchases have done well (or as well as can be expected, for a few that suffered some abuse after they were planted). This company has an excellent variety of Northwest natives, both in the bareroot sale and in general. Their website is a great reference for learning more about native plants of the Pacific Northwest. | | Positive | monkeyknuckle (2 reviews) | On February 27, 2003, monkeyknuckle wrote: I placed an order via UPS for their annual bare root sale and got great service and nice plants. The prices are extremely reasonable. Wally's a genuinely nice guy who clearly cares about his customers and is the person you deal with on orders. He'll get more of my business and I've already referred others to him, particularly people who want strong native plants for Pacific Northwest landscapes. | | Positive | chilirose (1 review) | On November 3, 2002, chilirose wrote: Beautiful gardens, excellent quality plants, nice friendly knowledgeable people. Answered all my questions and were very gracious in helping me find what I wanted. Great website and a good company. I'll definitely be back for more. | nwplants (1 review) | On November 3, 2002, nwplants Salem, OR wrote: We are a locally-owned northwest native plant nursery and gardens in the lush Willamette Valley of Oregon in the United States. P.S. We also offer exquisite original paintings and high-quality prints done in the style of the great botanical artists of olden times. On June 16th, 2007, nwplants changed the rating from to added the following:
Update: We no longer have paintings for sale. However we DO have a bunch of other items you may like. For instance, we have screensavers--slide shows of NW Native Plants; we have a garden journal to keep track of plants and tell you what natives have which requirements; we have a lovely little booklet of garden thoughts and quotes; we have a wildflower coloring book; and we publish an online magazine, NW Native Plant Journal, every month--ALL FREE!
