July 17, 2006 | I stopped by Majestic during their 'open garden' period this July and received a tour of the daylily field (about 5 acres) from Mrs. Pansing, co-owner with her husband, and an explanation of Mr. Pansing's hybrid program for fragrant doubles and rebloomers for our climate. Majestic inventories about 800+ kinds of daylilies or more and is also a display garden for the American Hemerocallis Society .
They do not do much mail order DL selling but are happy to sell daylilies from their named collection and seedlings for pick up or to garden visitors, especially if you call ahead.
I purchased about 6 nice clumps of seedlings (fragrant doubles) representative of Mr. Pansings hybridizing program and I felt I received good value for $$.
Majestic also sells a wide variety of pumpkins and gourds in the fall, and cuts a corn maze to entertain the family (while you shop for DLs).
