I have ordered from Schreiner's for several years. I order by phone and customer service is always courteous and helpful. They offer a great selection and a good sale at end-of-summer. The flowers always arrive in good condition and are large and healthy, and grow well in Kansas. The bonus iris are fantastic! Schreiner's guarantees their flowers for 1 year and they stand behind it. As long as my husband allows me to keep making new flower beds, I will continue to order from Schreiner's.

My expierence with Schreiner's is above positive. My order arrived fast, and it was packaged excellently. The iris rhizomes are in excellent condition, and top quality. With my order I qualified for one bonus iris. When I recieved my order I had five extra bonus irises for a total of six bonuses!!! Plus, they send an informative booklet on irises with your purchase. An excellent company who has my business for life.

I picked out two irises from Schreiner's, and went to place my order only to be told they had a $15 minimum. I can't really complain about that, since I still got four irises for $20. I didn't realize they had a "free iris with any order" offer going, and didn't get the pretty blue $60 iris offered that week, but they threw in a different one anyway.

The leaves of the irises were rather brown around the edges, but you've got to expect that when you order during the closeout season. The rhizomes looked fat and healthy otherwise, and I fully expect them to survive the winter (even after being planted in September in Wisconsin).

My only problem with the order was that I paid the extra two dollars for air shipment, and it still took it six working days to arrive. Two-day air, and four days to process the order?

All in all, I would recommend Schreiner's. But if you need a fast shipment, I suggest you call them and ask questions.

I've ordered iris from Schreiner's for years, for a long time I didn't even know there were other iris companies. Have since tried many other iris companies, but Schreiner's is still among the best.

I have never seen rhizomes this large and healthy. They looked freshly dug up the day before. The packaging was superb, and it arrived in a timely manner, with instructions on planting and care.
I will definitely order from them again.
Very happy with my order!

I am the Host of the TV series Garden Wise with Arlena. I was sent some Iris to plant and they are absolutely gorgeous. the Rhizomes are huge and they grow amazingly. I was there this last summer in Salem Oregon to tape a feature on their beautiful gardens. I suggest if your in their neck of the woods you stop in. Or watch it on my site http://www.arlenagwise.com it will be posted to watch by next week.

They had all but one variety (for which they gave a substitute even though I believe that I specified NO SUBSTITUTIONS!).

Other than that, I received beautiful healthy rhizomes.

I ordered iris from them last year and received huge healthy iris that were very well packed. I planted them and almost all of them bloomed this year.
Of course that meant I ordered again this year. Right now, I suppose it is their busiest time of year, but when I noticed a problem on an iris this month, I emailed them at their site and less than 24 hours later received a long, friendly email answering my questions and giving me helpful advice. I was invited to ask any other questions, so I did, and got another personal, long email answering my new questions.

I consider that to be excellent, unprecedented customer service, and am not likely to ever buy iris from anyone else.

My order from Schreiner's arrived in excellent condition. The quality and service were what I remember from when I ordered annually from them 20+ years ago. This is a first rate company, and I look forward to ordering from them again in 2009.

I had an AWESOME experience with this company! They sent healthy, fresh, large rhizomes in a very timely manner. They included numerous bonuses... several from the new releases, so I ended up with over $50.00 worth of freebies! Overall, a very positive experience. I will definitely be a repeat customer in seasons to come. Ev =)

I received my first order from Schreiner's today. I was expecting nice rhizomes but these were really HUGE -- far exceeding my expectations. I did not place a large order (3 rhizomes of the same cultivar -- and these were half price) but received Dreaming of Rio as a bonus! This one's currently listed in their catalog at $50!!!!

I'll order from Schreiner's again!

Very disappointed that despite early order the $35 iris that was the main one I wanted was sold out and substituted with a pink intro. I would have preferred a credit but never received any communication until it was delivered.

I asked if I could return it, no response.

I will not order from again.

The plants are big and healthy but pricey and for the price I'd like to get what I order. I don't want to pay $35 for a grab bag.
On July 30th, 2008, dmcdevitt added the following:

I did receive a reply, so I can return the substitute. I still prefer a credit rather than grower's choice, saving return postage and a trip to the PO. Earlier notice of sellout would also allow more time to find the cultivar elsewhere.

Huge plants, great healthy and good service. Customer service by email takes a few days to respond, but no biggie. Appreciate that they are patient especially with the 5 order changes I made. After receiving my first order of 9 I gave about 3 away as gifts, I was so impressed I placed a third order from the sale catalog while I'm waiting for my 2008 intros to come from my second order. Just a FYI about any iris company, check Dave's garden for real life photos of the irises, sometimes the catalogs colors make an iris look a lot more appealing.

I would never buy an iris from anywhere but Schreiner's (well, maybe if it was a cultivar not available from Shreiner's I might consider it). I ordered from them last summer and received the order the last week of August. I must confess that I didn't plant them until 2 weeks later but they were all healthy and beautiful ( I stored them in cool, dry garage). This year they came up and were bursting with health and bloomed spectacularly. I ordered about 50 rhizomes and had never planted iris before in my life.
I will order more this year (wish I had room for 50 more but do not). I hope to visit their farm one day. In the meantime, I've been considering turning my front lawn into an iris field....

The irises I ordered from Schreiner's sale catalog (my first order from them) arrived at the proper planting time, were very well packaged and labeled, looked huge and healthy, and included two bonus iris (one was a $50 iris!). Now they are starting to bloom, and I am ecstatic! Not only are they large, healthy, and gorgeous, but they are even more beautiful than the photos. They dwarf all my other irises. I ordered early, mid-, and late-season irises, so I haven't seen all of them in flower yet, but I have total confidence that the rest will be as magnificent as the first four. I will be ordering some irises for my mom, an iris lover, as well as myself. I love Schreiner's!

Highly recommend visiting Schreiners. Have ordered twice from Schreiners, in 2005 and last year. in 2005, ordered very last minute at end of season, and got decent plants that have done well for me. But when I realized I was ordering more and more of their intros elsewhere, I scheduled a visit. WOW - their bloom festival is something else, and their display gardens are to die for, with lots of ideas for companion plantings. Got much info on culture, too. Wonderfully kind, genuinely want you to love their plants. So I gave them another try, ordering earlier in the season.

Their ordering acknowledgement and shipping notice emails are accurate and much appreciated. Their website is one of the best, but can be awkward to navigate. 2007 order was received fresh, with most "feet" large to HUGE, many with "pups" already growing. All have grown well and bloomed. Bonuses tend to all be new intros over a certain dollar amount of the order. They are the highest price out there, but quantity discounts are available, even on some of the newer intros, which is especially nice.

I ordered a collection of dwarf iris from Schreiner's that I planted last fall. They arrived in great shape and carefully packed and labeled. They are now blooming and are wonderful. Every one is very healthy with lots and lots of flowers--one even has eight buds open at one time! I would absolutely recommend this company.

I have purchased from Schreiners for several years and have always been delighted when my order arrives. The rhizomes are accurately labeled and arrive in excellent condition. They are large and healthy and never fail to bloom the first year they are in the garden. The bonus plant is a nice addition to your order. The detailed planting instructions would be very helpful to a new iris grower. I know I will continue to order from this company with confidence that the plants they sell will add beauty to my garden.

THis is the second year I've ordered from them. Last year's order was in the $400 range. I won't say how much except to say this year's was far higher.

I won't say they are the best--there are some very good growers out there. However they get the highest marks in every category. Selection, packing, quality and size of rhizomes, accuracy in labeling, are all great. And follow-up customer service is as well. Tom Abrego was great with answering a thousand questions regarding some problems I had with a bed--my soil not the iris. Had he not been so helpful, I might have lost every single one.

The bonus iris they offer--in addition to those listed ain't bad either!

I highly recommend them .

I have had a great experience with Schreiner's; the iris I received are big, healthy rhizomes, and the substitute they chose for one that wasn't available is even better than the one I ordered, and is listed as being $15 more expensive (they charged me for the one I ordered, not the higher-priced substitute). They also gave me three really nice bonus iris, and sent a snail-mail shipping notice / confirmation, which I really appreciate. Schreiner's is easily the best place I know of to buy bearded iris, and their catalog is beautifully done (worth seeing just for the amazing variety and beautiful photos!).

Can not believe the size of the rhizomes/plants...can't wait to see them bloom in the spring...:o) Oh and what a great surprise.....they ran out of the bonus irises so they replaced one of the bonuses with a 45.00 rhizome!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW it was worth more than what I had ordered....I kept thinking they must have made a mistake...but I don't think so...very generous of them....Thanks!!!

I am a first time purchaser from Schreiner's. I did a small order (less than $50) of their summer sale irises because I was already over budget for bulbs for this fall, but was beguiled by the photos on their website. I was very impressed with the size and condition of the rhizomes. They were clearly labeled and well packed and arrived quickly. Unfortunately, my 60 lb puppy removed nearly all the labels and flung them around a bit. Not to worry. Since they were so robust, once I had them in a canine-proof environment, they rerooted solidly and are now sending up some greenery and appear none the worse for wear. Only problem - I will have to wait until bloom to find out who ended up where!

I will be setting aside some of next year's budget for them for sure!

I had ordered some Iris from them on sale in Aug which came in great shape in a weeks time. This week I received free a Schreiner's 72 page glossy extravaganza. Glorious pictures of their Iris, each 2" to 4", except a couple of pages of thumbnail sized pictures of the dwarf, Sib's & La. Their sale (buy 80.00 worth and pay only 40.00 with bonus etc) on most of their Iris is still going on according to the catalog, so I am tempted to order more now, as I was so pleased with my first shipment. I will keep this catalog, it is too nice for the circular file. Patti

This is the second year I have ordered from Schreiner's. Their irises are great and huge. They start growing while they are still being shipped. By the time they have been in the ground a week they have and inch or more of new growth. Love the catalog and keep them to look at during the winter.

I'm already impressed, and I barely have the iris out of the box. I ordered six irises from Schreiner's Summer Sale and got a bonus seventh iris. The package arrived quickly. The iris were EXTREMELY well packaged, clearly labeled, and the rhizomes were healthy and HUGE! Nothing skimpy here.

Definitely will order from them again.

While I don't order every year from Schreiner's I do most years. I've never had a bad experience and am very satisfied with their products. I just recently ordered six iris from their Summer Sale special. They arrived promptly, well packaged, healthy and well marked, and I didn't receive any that were skimpy in size like some "sale" iris you may receive elsewhere. Sent a valuable gift iris too. They are all putting up very healthy increase after just being planted a few weeks ago. On the few occasions I chose to call them to inquire about something they were very courteous and helpful. I have visited their operation and it's incredible. They really love what they do there and are dedicated to quality in all aspects of their business. I will continue to be a Schreiner's customer as long as they are there...

I just wanted to put in a good word for Schreiner's. I placed an order last fall and during the course of the year 3 of my iris' died. When I informed them of this they were quick to reply and within 2 weeks I had my replacements at no charge. I couldn't ask for anything better.

I had an excellent experience with the company. Ordering from a major supplier I was abit concerned on the service and delivery being made on time. We live in the NC mountains and need early delivery in order to establish good root systems going into winter. The web site was easy to use and good photos of the iris. The people taking my order were very helpful and polite. I received a confirmation post card of my order.
What a pleasant surprise when my package came and right on time. The rhizomes were big, plump, and good root systems. I really liked the labeling as it was a tag with the name and a photo of the iris on it.
This really helped me to see color etc. This helped me where to plant it in the iris bed so that I have color coordination with iris already planted. I would recommend that you purchase enough iris to take advantage of the discount which is available. Without it the prices are abit high but with it very fair. I would recommend this company and order again.

Once again after a great experience last year I placed another order this year. Once again a great experience. Big beautiful rhizomes arrived with good root systems and right on time. The people I talked to were very helpful and answered several questions I had regarding care and disease ontrol. Once in the ground they have taken off and have put up new growth already which indicates roots are taking hold. Quality, good service results in beautiful iris this coming spring. Again I recommend them to you to buy and enjoy.

Ordered almost 100 irises from Schreiner's which arrived in two large boxes. They'd been packed with great care as if they were crystal glasses instead, using a thick layer of straw-like packing material for every set of 8 or so rhizomes. Moreover, the rhizomes were huge compared to others I've bought in the past with other sellers and healthy looking to boot. I look forward to seeing their blooms this coming Spring!
