| Positive | capegarden Boston, MA (4 reviews) May 16, 2007 | This place is great! While it certainly has a sophisiticated selection in terms of the variety of specialized plants, there is no attitute at this place. Everyone is friendly and most helpful the second you drive up into the rather out of the way location. The plants are set out in a very organzied manner...perfect for the annal retentive gardener. Their catalogue online matches what they've got in stock. They appear to specialize several shade plants including astilbe, hosta, epimedium, filipendula, cimicfuga and polygonatum...but also have a wonderful selection of things like creeping thymus and interesting peonies as well. You will not be dissappointed by this place...the plants are very healthy and their prices are very reasonable. These people clearly care about their plants and thier business! | | Positive | gregr18 Bridgewater, MA (Zone 6b) (11 reviews) August 19, 2005 | This is the best nursery I have ever visited. They have an astonishing selection of perennials, a lot of plants that you won't see anywhere else, and Leo, the owner, can answer any question about any plant they have, and probably many they don't have, without even stopping to think. The nursery is deceptively simple looking; a football field's worth of perennials lined up in perfect rows on top of black landscaping tarp. What they stock is anything but simple; a paradise of hardy perennials that will appeal to any gardener, from the beginner to the most sophisticated plant collector. | | Positive | fpgill lexington, MA (Zone 6a) (22 reviews) May 30, 2004 | I'm very happy to be living within 20 minutes of Blanchette Gardens. Astonishing selection of perennials, reasonably priced, owner can answer any question you ask. If I only had a larger lot I could buy more! | | Positive | Lundeen Westford, MA (5 reviews) February 28, 2003 | Last summer I found very reasonable prices, excellent selection and very high quality. The owner has an encyclopedic knowedge of plants and is always willing to share his experience. I live about an hour away and plan to return this summer. | | Positive | Fischer (1 review) May 30, 2002 | What a great place to look at and buy Hostas. Hundreds of varieties are arranged in an easy to find matter. You walk only on landscape cloth and all are under a shaded canopy. Good prices for healthy plants. I am looking forward to returning this year to buy more varieties. | | Positive | calvinw (3 reviews) May 6, 2002 | One of my favorates in my local area. A wide variety of wildflower and more exotic outdoor plants. A particularly good place to go if one is in need of plants that fare well in shady / woodland locations. | | Positive | katiepolgreen (1 review) March 1, 2002 | I live 20 minutes away from Leo Blanchette's nursery. It is an excellent resource for wildflower plants, hosta and astilbe. I enjoy going there and purchasing plants every year. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the plants is excellent. He has many unusual perennials that I have seen nowhere else. He used to use his own garden as a display garden and that was wonderful. Unfortunately, there is not a display garden any longer. I think they are hoping to build one soon. | | Positive | Chris246 (3 reviews) May 1, 1999 | After making a recent visit to Blanchette, I knew that they would be seeing a lot more of me. I only went 1/3 around plant assortment and filled two wagons with plants. Many hostas normally selling for around $15-$20 were selling for $12.50. You could find several with two or three divisions. For the most part plants were in gallon containers, mature and well rooted. They also had plants selling for under $10. Nice selection of ferns. |
