Sorry Shepard's Iris Garden has gone. My bulbs, dormant for 3 years, suddenly bloomed beautifully this year. I wonder whether it was the winter freeze that did the trick. Where can I get the special fertilizer now that Mr. Shephard is no longer in town?
Shepards Iris Garden has been closed for over one year. Mr. and Mrs. Shepard sold their property in Phoenix and left the state. I am sure he is still growing iris' but is no longer selling plants. I was fortunate to buy 30-35 varieties that he "bred" jncluding two of the last ones that he developed (Marblef Sunday and Marbled Monday) and can still enjoy the blooms both in Phoenix and in Falgstaff. I do miss visiting his garden to see his new varieties each year. To respond to the buyer who was disappointed that he did not get a free bulb with an $80 order. Mr Shepard usually gave a free bulb witha 12 bulb order (baker's dozen)
Overall my experience with this company was positive. A couple of the rhizomes received were medium sized, but most were very large. Healthy stock. I was a little surprised however that with an 80.00 order they didn't send a single solitary bonus.
