Rec'd 16 16"-18"green giant thujas in peat pots in excellent condition. Extremely helpful customer service. Would definately recommend!

I purchased 70 Thuja Green Giants (8-11") in Jan/Feb 08. They arrived 2-3 days after I placed the order, neatly packed, with the dirt held in place around the root with a biodegradable bag. I had a couple of questions (sent via email) about planting that were answered within 2 days (great service).

I was not able to plant them for about two weeks due to my work schedule and placed them in a shallow pan with water. I finally got them planted. They immediately started showing bright green growth. I will definitely order from the Botany Shop again (I still need about 50 more).

when they arrived at my home in perfect condition i was impressed. when my wife looked at them, she was even more impressed.she kept saying how beautiful they are.

We ordered 33 of the Thuja Green Giants at 18-24 inches each. My wife and I had done a lot of research before deciding to order from the Botany Shop and boy are we glad we did. They arrived packed in a box with popcorn surrounding them to protect them while in route. Each tree had a clear plastic bag neatly tied around each separate container and you could still see the condensation, proving they were sealed to keep the tree moist until we could get them in the ground. Every single one of the trees looked great with a dark green color, all standing tall and upright. I quickly got each one planted into the ground and began soaking them. Being that we are on the west coast in Southern Oregon, the ship time and the time it took for me to get them all in the ground, they started going into shock and turning brown. I had followed all the instructions to a “T”, so I gave the Botany Shop a call. They asked me a lot of questions and we determined that even with me soaking them as much as I was, they were still drying out, mainly due in part to the fast drying clay soil we have. We were already using a slow release fertilizer so I did not want to add anything more but water. They proceeded to instruct me to cut around 2 inches off of the top of each tree, as this helps them become bushier at the bottom through their life and might encourage their growth and help with my current issue. I soaked the trees immensely even thought we were already soaking them quite a bit. Basically in the morning and at night to keep the soil and roots wet. And I have to say after one week now they are starting new growth at the bottom on quite a few of the trees and are looking much, much better. If it was not for the Botany Shop I would have probably lost them. Because they dried out I am not sure of a handful of them, but the Botany Shop extended the guarantee an additional 30 days to see if we can’t get them to live first and if not then replace them. All I have to say is, “WOW”. We love Thuja’s and our experience has been excellent in dealing with the Botany Shop. They are very friendly and helpful and desire nothing more than to see you succeed. One recommendation is I would buy the trees at least 18-24 inches tall, because going much smaller, depending on your circumstances, can prove to be difficult in seeing great results unless you are excellent at caring and nurturing your trees. If we would have bought them smaller I do not think they would have survived through this. The Botany Shop is highly recommended and rates high on our list of mail order for plants and trees. Trust me, we ordered from Spring Ridge Nursery, Autumn Ridge Nursery and one other I cannot remember and we had pretty poor results, especially from Autumn Ridge. Order from the best of the best, order from the Botany Shop.

I took a chance and ordered 100 bare root (no guarantee???)
Thuja plicata 'Green Giant's. They arrived packed up in foam peanuts and sphagnum moss about the roots in a plastic supermarket bag and then with saran wrapped around the root section also.

The little dears had been predrenched with JB spray,
and their roots were full of nodules of the stuff.

Half of my order was nice and fresh, large and full, with root structure too big for my 5" pots. The other half of my order was puny. Little dried plants, barely with energy, a few miserable roots. If I was a betting woman, I wouldn't put money on the puny ones. Why would they send me two different sets of trees from such a large order? If they couldnt fufill the order all of one piece, then they should have contacted me.

I immediately potted them all up in a very friable peat/black top soil/clay/sand/vermiculite mix, and have them on the north side of our barn till they get over the tp shock, and begin (HOPEFULLY)
to show signs of life and growth.

Two years ago I bought two Valley Forge Elms from this company and I was very happy with them. this time I feel like I got short changed and they figured I wouldn't say anything, and that I also
took them bareroot, so they could pawn off some slips that really weren't ready on me. I mean, 100 trees is a nice order isn't it?
I would have sent my very best and extra, as I do with my chicken
eggs to my customers.

I received good quality plants, soft-touch holly and hydrangeas, that are doing very well. Prices are a bit more than at other places, but worth it. Gina & Robert are extremely helpful and friendly, even though not all are. Would definately patron again. Thanks!

My wife and I live in a suburb of Chicago that has been devastated by Dutch Elm Disease. Over the past five years, our neighborhood has lost a majority of the American Elms that once formed an umbrella effect over our street. I promised my wife that at some point in our lives we would own another American Elm. After visiting their website, I spoke with Mike Shade, owner of The Botany Shop about the Princeton Elms that have been tested to be 96% resistant to DED that they had for sale. The Botany Shop had several larger Princeton Elms available; however transporting the tree was a major issue since most large courier services will not ship trees and shrubs over a certain size. With few if any other options available, we decided to drive down to Joplin, rent an open, 5’ X 9’ U-Haul and bring one back with us. The owner (Mike Shade) and his employees Robert and Donna – to name a few, were some of the nicest people (not to mention knowledgeable) that either one of us has ever met. Mike and Donna helped us wrap the tree and secure it to the trailer for a 562 mile journey back to Chicago. The tree made the trip just fine and is happily planted in our back yard right now outside our family room window. I would highly recommend The Botany Shop!!! Thanks again Mike, Donna and Robert for a wonderful experience!!!

I ordered 50 bareroot Thuja trees and if my neighbor hadn't set his lawn on fire all of them would have survived. They were big and lush when they arrived Beautiful plants. I wish they still sold them barerooted.

I ordered 100 of the 18-24 inch Thuja Green Giants the last week in April. Since this was such a large order I was told that it would be approximately 4 weeks before they would ship because several trees needed to mature. I received them on time and was amazed at how professionally they were packaged. The trees were planted around our property to be used as a privacy fence and wind break as per The Botany Shop's instructions and a drip system was installed a short time later. I am happy to report that all of the trees are doing well and thriving. The western Kansas summers consist of little rain, high winds and 100 degree temperatures. If these trees can make it here I am convinced they will grow anywhere. The folks at the Botony Shop are the best I've ever dealt with and I will gladly return to do business with them in the future. I am an extremely satisfied customer! First, let me start by saying I NEVER planted anything in my life. When our newly constructed home was complete we needed to put up a privacy screen. After many hours of surfing the net, we came across the Thuja Green Giants offered by the Botany Shop. We ordered 30 of the 18-24" and 25 of the bare root. Once we received them we temporarily planted them in pots until we had a chance to actually put them in the ground. The staff was extrememly helpful when I called for planting instructions. We planted, mulched, watered and held our breath. Low and behold, 2 1/2 months later these trees have grown 1 1/2 feet and filled out unbelievably. They are so green! They are in direct sunlight ALL day and we water them once a day with a garden hose if you can believe that. I added osmocote to them when they first went into the ground. I am so pleased! Not one tree (out of 55) showed any brown or any sort of discoloration. By the way, we live in zone 5 in Pennsylvania. I had to share my excitement with all of you. My first planting experience was a charm -- thanks to the Botany Shop. Also, the Manager was so helpful to me on the phone when I called to ask about any special care in preparation for the winter. I guess I would have an advantage to live just a couple of miles from Botany Shop. They have some of the most beautiful, healthy and reasonably priced plants and the customer service is a WOW! Today the owner was so helpful and yes we came home with some new and different plants.We also have purchased mulch from them and we have never lost any plants, They always have ideas for new gardens. Nervously ordered 14 of the 5-6 foot Thujas that were delivered, as promised, on June 12 to Northfield, Ohio. Couldn't believe the condition or the size of the trees-- so much more than I had imagined! The staff at the Botany Shop are all so helpful, and never make me feel that my questions are insignificant. It's been a little over a month since they have been in the ground and I can't believe how much new growth has taken place. I can't wait till next year to see what they will be like after a whole year of growth. Thanks Botany Shop and Michelle--it's nice to see that customer service is not a thing of the past!

I ordered 20 of the Thuja Gree Giants. I recieved them the day I was told they'd be here, and I was AMAZED at the condition they were in when I received them. I myself was very unsure about ordering trees online, but these were carefully packed in peanuts, and the pots were still very moist. They were perfect. I had to contact them once or twice with questions, and the girl was very plesant and very helpful. I would gladly do business with this company anytime.

I bought over 600 dollars worth of Green Giants from this company, about a week after planting some of the plants were in pretty bad shape so I called the company for some advice. The women I talked to said the manager used to live in my area and would call me back "soon". No call back. Next day I called again, talked to the same women. She said the manager had "stepped" out but would call me right back. No call back. Next day I wrote an e-mail to the company asking for replacements for the plants that had died per their "30 day guarantee". No Response. End of story and end of my doing business with this outfit.

We recently ordered 12 Green Giants from you and want to let you know how happy we are. The ground in Pa. is full of shale, rocks & boulders of every size & our planting area is right where the rain water runs off so we were concerned that the plants would wash out or just die from too much water. After receiving your assurances that they would be fine we went ahead and ordered 12 trees. They arrived 1 day ahead of schedule with no shipping damage and in very healthy condition. Clearing the area was difficult because in addition to the large rocks the dirt is compacted. We worried all the while we were clearing but the trees are planted and are doing well, new growth appeared in a few days. Your planting directions are clear & concise and were a huge help. Our neighbors are now watching the trees and are thinking of buying some themselves. We will not hesitate to purchase from you folks again.

Recd today an 8 or so inch weeping redbud tree and a small Knockout Rose- shipped on Monday and recd on Thursday. The little tree is healthy and staked and leafed out with the soil still moist. The rose is also fine and is even in bloom with one small rose that didnt even get disturbed during shipping. Great Packaging.

I went to buy river rock today. After I waited in line for several minutes because there was no one there to help me, a woman finally came in to the register.

The process for buying rock is time consuming, in that you must wait for them to walk around to the area where the mulch & rocks are, load it, then go have it weighed, then go back in to pay. I asked if they don't just sell it by the scoop like everyone else does, since it's easier that way. She informed me that she doesn't - that she wants to know exactly how much rock she sells. She said, "A scoop is a scoop." (which is exactly what I thought it would be)

I told her I'd go somewhere else where it would be easier. She said, "Good!" I told her I wouldn't be back, her reply - "Good!"

How sad that the only person there to help me today didn't care whether I returned or not.

IN REPLY TO THIS INCIDENT WE HAVE SOLD ROCK FOR AT LEAST 15 YEARS BY WEIGHING THE VEHICLE BEFORE AND AFTER LOADING SO THAT WE CHARGE THE CORRECT AMOUNT. WE HAVE A COMMERCIAL SCALE THAT I DON'T THINK ANYONE ELSE IN TOWN HAS. WE ALSO HAVE UP TO 5 DIFFERENT PEOPLE LOADING AND EVERY ONE OF THEM LOADS DIFFERENTLY. I CHECKED 4 OF THEM YESTERDAY AND IT VARIED UP TO 400 POUNDS BETWEEN THEM WHICH IS QUITE A DIFFERENCE. THAT IS WHY WE USE THE SCALES SO WE CAN BE FAIR WITH OUR CUSTOMERS.
IF YOU COME TO THE MAIN BUILDING WHEN YOU ARRIVE, DRIVE ON THE SCALE SOMEONE WILL WEIGH YOU IN AND WE WILL CALL SOMEONE TO LOAD. MOST TIMES WHEN WE HAVE A FULL STAFF WORKING YOU ONLY HAVE TO GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE TO PAY WHEN YOU COME BACK TO LOAD. THE DAY THAT MRS. KRAMME CAME IN WAS ON SUNDAY (LABOR DAY WEEKEND) AND I HAD LET SOME EMPLOYEES OFF TO BE WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND HAD A SMALL STAFF.

WAS CORRECT BUT SHE DID NOT LET ME FINISH MY STATEMENT OF "A SCOOP IS A SCOOP DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF BUCKET ON THE LOADER AND THE PERSON LOADING.

I'm a first time buyer for the Thuja Giant at the Botany Shop. Bought the one gallon size. Shipped on time and all arrived just perfect. DON"T GO ELSEWHERE this is the place to buy these.

My name is Fred B. from Amarillo, Texas and my first order with Botany Shop consisted of 10 quart & 20 peat pot Thuja Giants and 3 small Alee Elms, 6 small Maples. The plants were all packed with care and I did not even have one of the small Maple leaves break off during shipping. The plants shipped on April 3, 2006 precisely when Botany said they would ship. The Thuja Giants are growing rapidly and the Alee Elms and Maples appear to be healthy. We have planted all of these trees on our farm to the south of Canyon, Texas. We are in the midst of a severe drought and have all of our trees on a drip system with plenty of mulch around them so they should be fine. I have telephoned Botany Shop regarding other plant issues and they have been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We purchased 8 of the 18-24 inch green giants. They arrived in excellent time and in great shape. Because it was close to fall, after they were planted they showed a little powdery mildew and turned bronze but remained pliable. After winter, they started to grow very, very fast. They have greened up and are beautiful. We are getting ready to buy 6 more. I have not found any nurseries within 150 miles that carry these trees and people in the valley stop all the time to ask what they are. They stand up very well to the roundup used on the cotton fields around us. We also have daily strong winds which tend to kill off a lot of vegetation but these have a mulch bed around them and hold up very well. We are very pleased with this online nursery.

I ordered 10 Thuja Green Giant trees, via telephone. The order came in on time, and the trees were in very good condition! Thank you for providing a good product, at a good price, along with excellent service. Once again, thanks for the trees!

rec'd 8 huge trees in perfect condition! my experience with them was wonderful. very nice and helpful. my order was placed by phone and i found all employees very helpful. i purchased all 6 foot maples and they were in great shape!

I wanted to give the botany shop a negative but the plants was very good shape and price very reasonable. The problem I had was with the Manager. Everytime I communcated with him, He was yelling, He was rude and obnoxious, treated the customer like they dont care. I really doubt I will return any business

Outstanding on-line shopping experience. Two years ago, I ordered 11 small Thuja Green Giants. They shipped a extra trees and the packaging and health of the trees were fantastic. After two years, the trees are 5 1/2 to 6 feet tall. Two have died due to my husband's hazzardous handling of the weedeater. Last year, I transplanted some of the trees. They handled the transplant and only slowed in growth temporarily. I live in the Ohio Valley and these trees continued to grow during the 2005 winter, up to 8 inches on three of the trees. I have called the Botany Shop several times for advice. They are always helpful and pleasant. I will be ordering Valley Forge Elms, a Dawn Redwood and a few Knock Out Rose shrubs.

I ordered twice from this company in 2004 and they sent beautiful, big-green plants. I have ordered elms and green giants from them so far. The peanuts they pack with tend to annoy me, but that keeps the elm leaves from being shredded up. So, in other words the packing is great.

I ordered 70 1 gallon Thuja Green Giants, they arrived on the date promised, and packed with great care. They were promised to be 28-30 inches, although they were indeed in 1 gallon pots, the smaller ones were 28-32 inches, many were 36-40 inches with alot of new growth. They had a 5 day transport time to my area and arrived with moist soil. The extra box of 48" bamboo stakes and ties were an unexpected bonus. The website had great info on planting and care, I would definitely order again in the future!

I ordered two butterfly bushes from this nursery and they sent them on 9/12 and they arrived at my door 9/14. They were beautiful! One was as large as the same plant I ordered from another nursery three years ago for $24, only these I received today were just $7 apiece. Shipping costs are great and packing is too. I didn't expect much for $7 but I was very pleasantly surprised. They also answer emails promptly, another plus. Thank you Botany Shop! You made me very happy!

Today I received the four quart-size Green Giants which I ordered three days ago (standard shipping was shipped same day!). Frankly I was thrilled with the order--the helpful staff and speedy email replies to my questions, the speed of processing and shipping, the great prices and reasonable shipping charges, the excellent packaging, the inclusion of good instructions (and stakes! wow!) and most of all with the obvious quality of the product. The plants are all much more than healthy-- even nicer than I anticipated and better than described/pictured. This is without a doubt one of the best mail order experiences I have ever had, nursery stock or otherwise. They have a loyal customer in me!

The Botany Shop was a pleasure to deal with. They responded to all email questions promptly and curtiously, They also delivered promptly and in good condition. I ordered 62 10-14" green giants and 50 of the bare root clones. All but 6 of the 10-14" where in excellent shape, they where much nicer than expected and all where larger than advertised. The 6 had some powdery mildew on them, so I emailed them and they are sending replacements with an apology and no questions asked. The 50 clones are all vigorous and well rooted. This is an excellent company and I would not hesitate to use them again, or recommend that others purchase with confidance.

Before ordering online, I asked many of my local nurseries about Thuja Green Giants, they were clueless.
So I decided to order online; my first order for about 10 Thuja Green Giants was in the spring. They arrived promptly, in the condition as described, and there was great communication from the company. At the end of summer, I ordered 20 more, and with the same great experience.
-All of my Thuja's are doing great. Would highly recommend.

The Green Giants that I bought were GREAT!! My first purchase was for 50 plants and all but 3 survived,this was surely due to my terrible soil. They are all almost 4 feet tall now after only two years. The replacements that I ordered (quart containers)were bigger than I expected. The plants were all well packaged, arrived quickly and extras were included with my first batch of small trees. It is practically the only tree I have that the deers haven't touched. This is a wonderful company and a great tree. I have recommended both to all my friends.

What a wonderful experience dealing with Botany Shop. I ordered roses and hydrangeas from this earlier this spring. I was pleasantly surprized at the large size and health of the plants that were shipped. The expert packing kept all plants and soil in tact.

I ordered 40 Green Giant Arborvitae from this company back in May. Not only did they send me an email telling me when the trees were to be shipped, but true to their word, they shipped the trees on that date, and they arrived within two days! The trees were in absolutely perfect shape and had been well packaged. Moreover, even though I had ordered relatively small-sized trees, they sent me much bigger trees AND send me 15 trees free of charge!

In short, The Botany Shop is an excellent vendor, and I'd recommend them to anyone.

After checking here to see how they rated I felt comfortable ordering the Thuja Green Giants I am using as a fast growing privacy hedge.
I was definitely pleased with my order of 10 - 1 quart size plants. The root balls were very nicely developed and each plant was as good as advertised. I also appreciated the bamboo stakes that were provided with them. Even better was the reasonable cost for each plant and s&h.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I found their website while searching for a source of DED resistant American Elms. I ordered two trees from them in the 1 gallon size, a Princeton Elm and a Valley Forge Elm.

They were shipped 5/10/04 the day after I ordered them! They came well packaged with instructions.

Both trees were exactly as pictured on their web site, large green leaves and fully branched. Despite having a few branches broken in shipping they are in great shape.

They did an outstanding job on my order.

I ordered 8 one gallon Thuja Green Giants in April. They shipped and were received right on time. Their condition was good but not excellent (one container was low on dirt with some roots exposed). I think they will do fine. We'll see after a year. I did appreciate all the information supplied on the web site.
