I ordered pink & red lilies. The price was good and the order arrived as stated & and in a healthy condition.This spring when they bloomed for the first time they were orange. All of them. I waited before complaining because, I thought maybe some would be orange, and some red & pink. But they were all orange. I called, and they said they would reship this fall. They were very nice about it....
I can't complain to much, cause I did get healthy bulbs...just wouldn't have planted orange flowers in front of a purple flowering bush...And they are resending the order. So in the end, I will be better off then I would have been had they gotten it right the first time.
Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for. If I chose to pay more, I probably would have gotten the right order the first time.
Although i don't have a lot of experience with New Holland, i was surprised to see so much negative feedback. In the fall of 2008, i ordered 200 tulip bulbs. These were without question the nicest bulbs i've received from any company. In April of 2009 all 200 ( by actual count ) came up and bloomed. The colors were unbelievable. This year the show wasn't as good as last year because i have them planted too close together. I plan to order again this fall and will continue to do so until N.H. gives me a reason not to.

I work for a large resort and we placed a trial order for 1000s of bulbs. I was very disappointed, primarily with the communication in the ensuing weeks. I ordered on Oct. 2 and did not receive the last of my order until yesterday (nov. 12th). I can understand that a company may run out of certain items or have to back order them, but it would be helpful to know that early on in the process! Instead, they would send out a few bags, with an e-mail listing "remaining items to be shipped separately" and then a few more would ship but not necessarily the ones listed and some were neither listed as "shipped" or "remaining." Puzzling. I had to call often to find out the status, they never updated me. Every time I spoke to someone in customer service they would always say the items are/were "already packaged and waiting for UPS to pick up", but then one person told me "UPS didn't come for 2 days!" Huh? to a mail order bulb company in the fall?! I sent an e-mail to customer service a few weeks ago detailing my frustration and asking for an update and never received a response. On the up side, the bulbs were all in nice condition, prices are good, and when I called about the mistaken bulbs I received the phone agent promptly issued a credit, but as a perfect symbol of the whole process, the correct bulbs that I wanted (and had originally order weeks earlier) were now on back order, and could not even ship for 2 to 3 weeks! All in all, a high maintenance process that we will not repeat. We will be looking for a different wholesale bulb supplier.

I'm gonna add this as a neutral for now 9/2/09 I ordered a bunch of alliums. They were shipped out in two orders. First order I received about two weeks ago. Sturdy box, and the bulbs seemed firm and healthy.
Today I received the bumper shipment. The bulbs were NOT in the same conditions. They were in different stages of dried out. a few might be salvagable, but most of them are goners. I e-mailed the company and wonder what kind of reply I will get. I was reluctant to order because of GW review I read, but figured I'd give them a chance. First 350 bulbs thumbs up, the last 100 two thumbs down.On October 30th, 2009, crazykaos changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:
Got a response back from Customer Service within hours of notifying them about my bad bulbs. So far they have been great to deal with. They are replacing my bad bulbs. I should receive a new shipment in 2-3 weeks. Can't wait to get them
So I am changing my rating to Positive.
Just wanted to add my two cents. Three years ago I ordered a number of daylilies, and some Stargazer lilies that were on sale.The lilies bloomed that first year. Out of twelve bulbs,only four came up.Instead of Stargazers,they were dwarf asiatic lilies,three yellow and one orange. The daylilies were so small that I had to put little twig stockades around them so I didn't accidentally yank them when weeding grass out of the bed. They finally bloomed a little this year, their third summer. Not a single one was anything I ordered,and appear to be common appearing varieties that one might find in a 'bargain bag'. I got the impression that the employees who pack orders for this company just grab whatever's close at hand, and don't bother/care to read bin or order labels. The owners (or whatever they're called) must be completely out of touch with what's going on in that department.
I ordered about $85. of different allium and lily bulbs from this company and requested that they be sent by mid-October due to our cold climate in far northern MN. They said, "no problem" and when the bulbs arrived about November 10, our ground was already frozen. Further, many of the bulbs were soft and mildewed. Their customer service was completely unresponsive. I will never order from them again!!!On March 6th, 2009, seventree changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following:

have contacted me and offered to replace my bulbs even after more than a year after my order. I am happy to say that I will give them business once again.
I ordered 25 lily bulbs in fall of 08. They arrived in a timely manner and I planted immediately. 5 of the bulbs were brown and mushy and I discarded. I reported this to the company and they sent me a credit. I asked that they apply the credit to my credit card but they refused. Not a pleasant experience for me.
I happened upon your wonderful website last year AFTER I had placed an order for over 200 tulips. Needless to say, once I had read all of the negative feedback about New Holland Bulb, I wasn't expecting too much.
I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. My order arrived timely for fall planting in my area, the bulbs were all huge & healthy & the packaging was pretty good. The tulips are in beautiful bloom in my gardens right now & I am thrilled!
Hopefully this is a sign that New Holland Bulb is getting it's act together...I'll be looking for further postings.

I ordered some bulbs on October 9, 2007. I never received and email confirmation about my order. After a month, I checked my order status on the website and it said "canceled". No emails or phone calls ever received and no bulbs received. I did email customer service. Let's see if they respond. There is a phone number to call but only on weekdays. On November 22nd, 2007, Lseattle changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following:
I changed my rating to neutral instead of negative because I never received a product. One week after my original post, I received a post card from New Holland Bulb saying my order was canceled because the bulbs were Out of Stock. 5 weeks is too long to wait to find out something is Out of Stock. The company needs to send out more prompt communication.
We ordered the plants from New Holland Bulb Co. the plants did not grow at all.

I ordered some plants from a catalogue of theirs that I got in the mail last year. They cashed my check immediately, but weeks went by and I never received any plants. I decided to call - and discovered to my dismay that there was no phone number on the catalogue, just a mailing address. I got the phone number through BellSouth and after having been on hold for 15 or more minutes, I go to talk to someone. The lady was very nice and apologetic: my plants were on back order, would I like a refund? I decided to wait for my plants.
After another two or three weeks I called again, was put on hold for what seemed eternity, finally spoke to the same lady who gave me the same reply as the first time. This time I told her to please refund my money - which they promptly did and which is the only positive thing I can say about this company.
I ordered bulbs 5-13-01. Of course never received them. Got their number from information. Called. Was told a refund was in the mail. Yeah, right. I did file a complaint with the Missouri Better Business Bureau. Didn't help the matter, but made me feel better. BUYER BEWARE!!!! (Who you order from)
After waiting so many months to get my Blue Moon Hydrangea Hedge plants from the order I placed way back in the Spring of 2001, I decided to go on the internet to find a phone number to call New Holland Bulb Co. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw so many letters of disappointment! How could a company cash my check knowing full well I would not get Jack! I just knew I would have some beautiful blue hedges along my fence come Spring/Summer 2002. Yea, right! What a scam! Now, my question is: What do I do at this point? The check I sent was cashed in less than a week.
I too was suckered into sending away for "The incredible Climbing Shell Plant". When they did arrive a couple of months later, they had substituted sweet peas - I already have volunteer sweet peas growing all over my yard. As if that wasn't bad enough, in each plastic bag was a dried out twig that was probably dead before it even got packaged! I sent for a refund and I'm still waiting. I'm glad I found this site because I now realize that I will never see a penny of the money I spent.
In February 2001 I placed a $23.92 order with New Holland Bulb Company. My check was cashed immediately. In June 2001 I received the 2 each Wild Garden strips I ordered (which turned out to be unsatisfactory) but did not receive the Lemon Grass although the packing slip indicated it was included in the shipment. I have written to this company three times but receive no acknowledgement so I guess I'll just have to accept the fact that I've been cheated. According to what I read of other people's experiences, however, I guess I was lucky.
I ordered the shell plants this spring and received 4 dried up roots, 3 sweet peas plants and 1 shell plant. They did not grow and I requested and received a refund check. I cashed it at my grocery store and this week received word that New Holland had stopped payment on the check and I not only owed the $10.96 of the refund check, but also $25.00 which the bank had charged the grocery store! Only then did I check the internet and find all of your information on New Holland and the other companies which are now bankrupt. It is truly disgusting to be treated this way by companies which had been trusted through the years.
I paid for an item on 3/14/01 for shell plants. About two months later I received sweet peas instead. I mailed the item right back and was furious that they had decided to "substitute" my order instead of just giving me a refund or offering me a choice. Never heard from them again. This all took place months before they filed bankruptcy, so I should have had my refund first. I don't really know where to begin now after getting this computer I was able to investigate this company.
I've been trying to locate an address or phone number so I decided to look up New Holland Bulb Co on the internet and to my surprise I'm not alone! I ordered Blue Moon Hydrangea Hedges, which arrived in sad shape. I planted them and have no idea where they are! Guess I won't be receiving a refund or replacements.
A co-worker and I ordered $54.00 worth of merchandise and now realize we've learned a valuable lesson. I contacted Foster and Gallagher's H.R. department and received a number for their "relations" person, Doug Morris, at 212-515-1964. The woman who answered at that number said he would return my call. I realize that we will probably never receive a refund, but I've received quite a bit of satisfaction just bothering anyone who will answer the phone.
Back in March 2001, I placed 2 surprise orders, at the same time, for my husband. One was from New Holland Bulb (~$101) The shipment from the new Holland Bulb Co. didn't start to arrive until early June '01. The shipment arrived well packaged, healthy, roots/stems sprouting and properly labeled!. We were under the impression from the advertising literature that the plants/bulbs would be shipped according to the buyer's region's zone/planting season. So to us the delay was understood. We can either say that the New Holland Co. is getting its act together and heeding all the their customers' comments or we are just blessed! We are quite satisfied customers and look forward to future ordering!
I placed an order with them over 4 months ago and received my order all right. I received plants that I DID NOT want PLUS they were all dead upon arrival! I have called the number listed on the invoice and spoke with a representative of the company. They apologized and will be issuing me a refund check. Needless to say, this is the LAST time I do business with this company. I just hope they really do send my refund check.
I ordered from New Holland Bulb in February 2001. I ordered 6 Hibiscus. They say they will send them in time for planting. My problem wasn't that they sent them to late. They sent them too early. They arrived in early March on a day in the middle of a snowstorm dropping a foot of snow. By the time I could plant them they were half dead. Two survived, miraculously. I am going to try some of the phone numbers I found on this site.
I ordered 3 butterfly bushes on April 26,2001, my check was cashed but no bushes. What a deadbeat company, I sent a letter requesting a refund of my money and now they claim they shipped my stuff. Of course I never got it. Buyer Beware.
I too place an order in April 2001 for several plants and to date I have received nothing. I will call the number and see if I can get a ship date. Hope I have the same experience as the ONE person who has posted to this site
On April 13, 2001 I mailed an order for twelve (12) blue moon hydrangea hedge plants. To my surprise, the check cleared on April 24, 2001. There I sat on may 28, 2001 wondering where my plants were. So I got on the internet and saw all those complaints and had to catch my breath. I also saw that the parent company was Foster & Gallagher. On Tuesday I called Foster and Gallagher. It took two (2) transfers, but I finally got someone who could help me; so I thought. She did find my order, but stated that New Holland didn't have a ship date yet. So she gave me new Holland's Customer service number and instructed me to call and ask when they plan to ship the plants. I have tried to call this number 10 times today. Each time I have called the phone rings maybe seven (7)Or eight (8) times then disconnects me.I tried calling foster & Gallagher back, this time they only transferred me one (1) time. The lady took my name, order # and phone number and said she would have someone call me back. That was at 1:00pm today. It is now 6:15pm and no one has returned my call. Tomorrow I will call Foster & Gallagher back and request to speak with a supervisor….
I too bought from this company. I placed my order back in March, the check was cashed promptly! I still don't have any flowers today May 25, 2001. We recently bought a house and have done a lot of landscaping, we are waiting for the Hydrangea Hedges to complete our landscape! Needless to say I don't think I will be receiving them anytime soon, or even alive (from what I've read!)
Today is May 26, 2001. Back in March (30th, to be exact), I had ordered 6 Blue Hydrangeas from the New Holland Bulb Company. They cashed my check on April 10th. Well, I had heard neither hide nor hair from them and really got scared when I found this website and began to read all the negative things about them, as well as other mail order plant companies I had sent orders to. So, I called them yesterday (25th) to find out what the status was of my order. The salesperson was very courteous and asked me what my zip code was. I told her and she said the plants had been mailed to me on the 22nd. Well, I went out to get my mail yesterday and low and behold, my six plants had arrived, AND, they were in effect condition. Like I had said earlier, after having reading the negative stuff about this company, I really thought I had been taken. But New Holland Bulb Company pulled through! I am thoroughly pleased with my order!
My experience is pretty much the same with new Holland bulb co. I ordered in march and here it is May. I just received them today. They sure didn't have any problem cashing the check. I have never had a problem like this. In the future, I will be sure to stick to the company that I know gives good service. Just because one company gives bad service doesn't mean they all do.
I have recently ordered some Climbing Shell Plants from New Holland Bulb. I received my order within two weeks, but whoever filled the order took it upon themselves to "substitute" the items I had ordered. Instead, I was sent Sweet Pea vines that look like sticks in dirt. I have absolutely no clue as how to plant these "sticks," and there are no directions included. I will NEVER recommend nor order again from the New Holland Bulb Company. One word for them: SCAM.
My wife sent a check to NHB in March. This company cashed the check and we still haven't gotten the 6 blue moon hydrangea hedge plants yet. In my opinion New Holland Bulb is not a reputable company to deal with.
Well, surprise, surprise. I ordered 4/11/01 and received 5/19/01. No problem there. But I ordered a beautiful shell plant advertised that week and I got a sweet pea vine. The package contained some mulch and some pieces of dried roots. I am keeping the faith that at least one of the roots springs; otherwise, I have been deceived and robbed. Unless they send me a new package containing what I ordered, I will be the first in line telling everybody to abstain from ordering anything from them.
Well, the check has long been cashed and I have yet to see my 8 Hydrangea plants that I ordered well over 2 months ago. I guess I should have checked out their reputation before I ordered. I intend on getting my money back.
I wish I had visited this site before placing my order just like the other hundreds of people who have done the same. I placed my order in March and it is now late May and nothing has arrived. I've so far had no success in reaching anyone except for a message that says we will be open at 8am central. It is now 10am central. I don't understand how this company has been able to stay in business for so long. Guess partly because of uninformed people like myself. I won't be ordering from them or any other mail order flower companies again! Only takes one bad experience for me to learn my lesson.
