The scoop on 'Deer-Resistant Landscape Nursery'

Ordered online Aug18th, the plant was in my mailbox on the 20th!! Not only that, but the Podophyllum kaliedoscope was nice sized, a good value and gorgeous!

I can't say enough about Deer-Resistant Plants Nursery. The quality, the pricing, shipping and communication is excellent. Everything I purchased from here is still growing strong and the deer pretty much stay away from the plants. They may have taken a nibble but that's about it. I ordered a daisy and a butterfly weed that didn't survive and I was credited immediately - no questions asked. And they were excellent with shipping when I needed the stock to arrive by a certain time. Anticipated ordering on a regular basis!

I have had 3 shipments this year from this nursery. All plants were packed well, hydrated with plastic on the pot, and shipped in a timely manner.

Would have written this review sooner but very busy planting these large orders. I live in an area where most nurseries are big box hosta and impatient plants. This honest reliable nursery is a God send to me in Northern MN.

The owner always has check on the order with emails or phone calls. Will reorder from them allways.

I received 10 large healthy maidenhair ferns, packed beautifully, received healthy, would definitely order from again.

I found this company by using Google to find Caryopteris divaricata. I requested a mid-April ship date which was agreed to. When I didn't get the plants by the first week in May I called. The owner apologetically said they still had snow on the ground, but he'd get my plants out right away.

I did get my very healthy, large plants promptly and they were just breaking dormancy. Dave had written a simple thank you and an apology for the slow shipping. I was glad he held my plants until they broke dormancy, as I am terrible with dormant plants. I was very impressed with Dave's humble attitude.

I found Deer-Resistant Landscapes Nursery when I was looking for a source for alchemilla 'auslese' to replace some puny ones from another nursery. It was easy to contact the owner and ask him about the size of the plants I'd be getting, and he was also very accommodating about the date of shipment. In addition to being better-priced and in bigger pots than the first nursery's plants, the plants I received were even bigger than expected (pretty much what you'd get for the same price or more at a local nursery instead of the usual small mailorder size), and well rooted and very healthy. They arrived in perfect condition in a well designed box that eliminated the need for annoying packing materials (I hate styrofoam peanuts!) and made unpacking a very quick process. Shipping cost is low, too. Highly recommended!

This company is honest, reliable, and sends beautiful plants. What more could you ask for?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I see what some vendors market as "deer resistant." My heart breaks for beginning gardeners who would place their trust in such companies---only to wake up one morning and find that the deer have destroyed everything!

Deer Resistant Landscape Nursery, unlike the above mentioned companies, actually conduct their own tests on deer resistance. They not only welcome, but ask for customer feedback on this subject.

Now for the plants themselves---

I love Asclepias Incarnata, and when I saw that this company had the new 'Cinderella' at an excellent price, I ordered a number of them in what this company calls the "five inch pots." They came yesterday, and I must say that these "five inch pots" are huge for mail order standards!

I also ordered some Buddleia, which also came in the same huge (by mail order standards) pots. They are so healthy and well developed that I will order more today. (I order Buddleia through the mail because the nurseries in my area typically only offer this plant in the middle of summer.)

The owner of this company is obviously a perfectionist. He sent two grasses which I ordered without charge because he was "not sure of their quality." However, one of the grasses is already breaking dormancy and actually looks quite robust. How many mail order vendors do you know who would do this?

The shipping rate for this company is quite reasonable, and the plants are very well packaged for the trip. They were shipped out on the exact day I requested, and arrived at my doorstep in two days.

Excellent experience with this plant vendor.

I ordered two Buddleia's in January (not prime ordering/shipping time from their place or mine) and both plants arrived quickly in good health, well packed and are currently growing quite well. Can't ask for more.

Great communication at all stages, certainly on my watch-list for another order real soon.

This was my first order from this company. I was hesitant to order in the fall because I thought I might receive plants left over from spring and probably a bit bedraggled. My order arrived promptly, the plants looked great, and they were packed so well that I had trouble getting them out of the box.

I live in the woods so I am forever fighting deer, racoons, rabbits and squirrel as well as the last two summers of drought and the new arrival of japanese beetles. So whether these plants survive may not be the fault of this company.

Also, the one-price shipping is terrific! I have tried to place orders from other companies that when it got to checkout added $5 or more to each plant. I look forward to ordering from this company again.

I ordered some plants and bulbs on Tuesday evening. The order arrived Thursday afternoon. The plants were very nice and the packaging was excellent. I will place another order with them.

I placed an order for a Young Lady Smoke bush, 3 geraniums, and a agastache. Packing was very good. Order received in 3 days after ordering. The only reason for the neutral rating was the size of the plants. The Smoke bush was very small. The Agastache looked like a stick in a pot(After e-mailing the company was told it was dormant which might be true in Michigan-I live in Georgia) The only exception was the Geraniums, which were not a bad size and were healthy looking. Overall, this is a very well run nursery. I will change my rating to positive if plants establish themselves quickly and become a decent size.

I placed a spring '05 order for several perennials and small shrubs. The Caryopteris divaricata were a bit on the small side, but everything was healthy, well-packed and a good value for the money.
I would order from this company again.

Orderd 2 butterfly bushes couple of weeks ago. Both had a huge root system and are now thrivinging in my butterfly sanctuary.

Top-notch source! Nothing but great experience. Satisfaction is guaranteed. Website ordering is easy, though more photos would be helpful. They encourage feedback on deer resistance. Different plant sizes offered. Quality is good. Shipping is one low price (try to find that anywhere else!) and the plants are very well packed. The stock continues to grow. The customer service is first-rate - friendly, courteous and prompt. I have not had any deer damage on any plant I've purchased from them. I wish more people knew about it. It's a great source for ALL gardeners - not just those of us with deer problems. Four stars.
