I am very happy with my order from this company. The plants I received were a good size and the way they were packed was amazing. I have to say that this company has most likely the best packing of plants that I have seen to date. I ordered several Turk's Cap plants in the fall of 2011, and they are all coming up and sprouting. They probably do not need my rating since they have so many positive ratings already, but, I was so pleased with my order that I had to say so.
I placed my second order for more plants this week because I find that when you find a quality place and they send quality and healthy plants, it makes a world of difference when you make your payment to them.. it makes it all worth while.

Deciding whether or not to choose neutral or negative was difficult..I ordered 3 plants from Almost Eden..two came in good condition. The third was a camellia..A dead camellia. I wrote to the company, and was told they would ship a plant the following week. By the way, I purchased these plants in April 2005.
On June 6, I received another email (after sending two to Jeff) and he wrote back saying they'd send a replacement the following week..It's now August and I've yet to get anything, including a simple email..I would understand if it was a busy time of year, but it's not.
BTW, before I got the plants I ordered, I received two small hedges I never ordered.. I'm sure it was someone else's plants..poor souls..probably still waiting for them..Since these hedges weren't hardy to my zone, there was nothing I could do with them...I don't want hedges anyway. I'd think twice about ordering from this company.. On August 31st, 2006, Toni05 changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

I received nine plants, secured with tape, then wrapped within rolled cardboard.

Plants are healthy and insect-free, packed with buds and/or flowers. They're much larger than most other nurseries send, especially considering prices.
Mr. McMillian has the patience of a saint. When I phone in an order, I can yak up a storm about plants. He's helped me choose, and honest when it came to size..If he felt a plant needed a little more time to grow before shipping, he brought it to my attention. I really appreciate his honesty.
Almost Eden offers numerous varieites too, another plus. I'm sold.

Plants are good size, tall and/or compact, healthy, pest-free, and variegated plants are evenly and vividly colored.
Plants are shipped enclosed in a cardboard roll; roll holds two plants.
Each plant includes a label, and clear tape holds tag and a preventative so soil doesn't spill.
Shipment took 7 days, but the order was placed after 4pm Cental/Midwest time.
A printed informatioin sheet and LA Dept Certificate are included. The sheet provides name of plant, description, basic care, quantity, and price of each plant ordered.

There is one suggestion I'd like to make, which may or may not make a difference. :) or worth the effort altering your format.
Is there a way, 'when we leave multiple feedback for the same nursery,' instead of finding the latest on page 10, 20 or 30, the last would go back to page one???
Please don't think I'm telling you how to run your business, and I'm sorry for making a suggestion here, (I don't know if there's a way to contact GWD,) it's just a thought.
IMO, it'd be a great help, or otherwise, to a nursery..it shows 'That Positive Feedback' sincere, especially if a person shops at 'X' nursery repeatedly.. Thanks, Toni T.

Aside from quick-shipping, plants were carefully and securely packaged.
Each plant, individually secured in cardboard. I think all nurseries should use this method. The cardboard prevents breakage.
I'm fussy and cautious when it comes to ordering citrus and citrus-like/fruit bearing trees, from a non-citrus nursery...since Almost Eden has always sent healthy plants, I took a chance and ordered a Variegated Calamondin and Sour Kumquat. Lo and behold, both are gorgeous, healthy and good-sized plants. Variegation on the Cal is striking. I only wish they had Variegated Kumquats and other variegated citrus/citrus-like plants. :)

All on-line plant purchases I make in the future will be done from this company. The plants are very healthy, very well packed and delivered in a timely manner with reasonable shipping rates. The feature I like the most about this company is the option of choosing the size of the plant you are ordering which are priced accordingly. Fantastic customer service and communication. WOW!! I just received my first order from Almost Eden, and all I can say is WOW!! I always do a "test order" to determine the value and experience, and I will DEFINITELY be ordering again, and go to Almost Eden first to see if they have what I want before checking something else. I will be happy to pay more if that is the case just to do business with them. The plant (Giant White Bird of Paradise 4" Pot) was MUCH larger than expected, and VERY well packed. The shipping was extremely fast, and any e-mail correspondence was fast and polite. The plant was so large and healthy, I am going to need to get a bigger pot than I expected, which makes me VERY happy! I will go out of my way to recommend Almost Eden. I purchased 4 plants. They were packaged better than any company I have delt with. I received them very quickly.
The plants were rooted and in perfect condition. (The temp. was about 90).
I will check this company first to see if they have the plant(s) I want to purchase.

Wow, what a delight!. I haven't experienced anything like this in decades! Old-fashioned, friendly, thorough and PERSONALIZED customer service.
Just placed my first order ($130) with this company for spring 2012 plants and bulbs. An hour later I wanted to make a change, so I sent an email to customer service. I received an almost instant response that was polite, helpful and incredibly accommodating. I was provided with the shipping date and this company even offered to monitor my weather situation before shipping my plants. This is an unheard of level of exceptional service. What a rare surprise.
The plants prices are right. And I have no doubt that this company would bend over backwards in the unlikely event that there was a problem with an order. I look forward to placing many future orders with Almost Eden.
Will re-post here after the plants arrive this Spring. Highly recommend this wonderful company at this point.

My first time ordering from this nursery. I ordered two Pentas plants. This nursery does the most amazing and wonderful packing and packaging of the plants. The plants & soil are so secured in the box to keep them from moving around too much.
The plants arrived perfectly healthy, alive, green and perky. Not a single leaf or stem fell off, the plants were alive and beautiful, even with my area being in high temperatures.

I know its the middle of summer in south louisiana, and i know it isn't the time to plant a tree, but i have been looking for a camphor tree for a while. At first they said they didn't have any until the spring so to check back then which i said ok. about 15 minutes later they called me back and said they found a nice one and the only one they had left, I said send it. I had it by the next day, I will keep it in a pot until time to plant. Very nice people to order from
1 st order -Confederate Rose plant arrived on time & in excellent condition. Great packaging. They follow up with you as soon as your order is in the system. They love what they do and it shows in their products, packaging and customer service.
2nd order-purchased a Pinapple Guava(Feijoa)-very green, healthy. Same great experience. Before I buy anywhere else. I check if Eden Plants got it first. Great company!

I ordered four trees from Almost Eden after reading about them on Dave's Garden. I was so glad I had found out about the Watchdog right before I ordered because the company I was initially going to order from received very poor reviews.
John was extremely helpful - giving me planting tips and reducing my shipping charge and shipping three orders together that I had place separately.
My trees arrived in two days, well packaged very well, and look healthy and happy! I'm looking forward to getting them planted.
I look forward to ordering from Almost Eden again - they were a pleasure to work with!
Ordered Zephrine Drouhin Roses; plants as described. Nice packaging. Had to wait a week for shipment due to owner vacation, but that was OK. Asked for a shipment tracking number, but none was provided. Plants were however shipped immediately and quickly after owner's return. Excellent packaging and plant quality. I ordered some Osmanthus plants and they were very nice. Nice size, healthy and shipped in the pot which I really liked. I also wanted to order a Jasmine Duke from them and they sent me photos via email of the actual plant. It was large and healthy when I received it.( All of the plants I ordered were in 1 gallon pots.) Packaging was nice, the plants looked like I had gone to a nursery and picked them up. Nice that they ship in pot so roots aren't disturbed and you don't have to pot them up as soon as they arrive.
Shipping is a little slow. Plan to wait about a week to ship plus the time for them to get to you.
Prices are fair, shipping prices fair, healthy plants. I would not hesitate to purchase from them again.
I ordered three white turk's cap plants from Almost Eden. I can't believe how quickly they arrived and how sturdy and healthy-looking they were--as if I had just bought them myself at a nursery. Fantastic packing job that kept the plants moist and protected from jolts and jars. Great communication from the company. Great price for the plants and shipping, too.
Received a very healthy frost free gardenia plant. Shipping took two days from Louisiana to Nevada.

A friend ordered a couple of plumeries for my birthday. The ones he selected were apparently too young, so instead they substituted for different varieties of plumeria (which I actually liked better) at no extra cost. When I received the plumerias I was amazed at how big and healthy they were. They even had buds on it! While I was expecting a leafless stump in some dirt I got big blooming plumies; needless to say I placed another order with them (an epiphyllum, hoyas, and other goodies). Can't wait for them to come in! (also they are quick, ordered on a wednesday and they will ship next Monday).
Ordered a variety of plants. They were delivered quickly and were packed beautifully -- no transportation damage at all. The plants look wonderfully healthy. I'm trying some plants I've never heard of before -- including Musical Notes clerodendrum and White Rose of Montana. Can't wait to see how they look in my garden!

I just received my second order from AlmostEden and am absolutely blown away with their service. My Mexican Turk's Cap arrived so quickly and healthy looking - even a bud on one of them! Almost 2 years ago I ordered a Red Cascade miniature rose from them which also arrived promptly and is now absolutely beautiful and full of blooms.
The care with which they package the plants, speed of delivery and information supplied are what makes this company a Number 1 winner in my book!
I purchased a coral vine and a Mexican flame vine from Almost Eden and couldn't wait to get them. I was thrilled at how beautiful they were upon opening the package! I was a bit worried what they would look like since it is quite hot here in June, but with the well done packaging you would have never known these plants had been in the mail system for several days!! They were green and healthy and good sized plants for the size pots I ordered. Communication was excellent as well.
I will definitely order from them again. I am so happy...especially since I couldn't find these plants anywhere locally!
At first I was a little concerned when I had not received my plant. Little did I know they usually ship a week after the order. Immediately after I purchased my camilla sinensis tea plant I received an email confirmation of my order. A week later I received a very detailed email that my plant had shipped and information pertaining to the shipping and packaging protocol / process that they were to use and why. They also gave some general advice on how to best care for my plant upon it's arrival. It is clear that Almost Eden cares a great deal about the quality and longevity of their plants as well as costumer satisfaction.
The plant arrived here quickly and in pristine condition. It must have taken twenty minutes alone simply to package it. I have never seen such an intricate and well-done packaging job. The attention to details and the needs of the plant was amazing. My tea plant was healthy and whole as if it had never even been shipped a couple hundred miles. Absolutely wonderful quality. I will be ordering from Almost Eden again and strongly recommend it.
As an avid gardener, I have ordered from numerous companies to get what I want. This was my first purchase from Almost Eden, but will definitely NOT be my last. My plants arrived quickly, well packaged and very healthy. John has been amazing in communications back and forth. Shipping was extremely reasonable. What was not to love? I let John know that I was getting Camellia sinensis for my budding, 9 year old son who loves growing all ready – he provided some awesome info back for my son’s benefit. These folks are everything a business should be and folks I intend to continue to do business with from now on!

just received my second order from AE. the plants from the first order a year ago are thriving and i am totally impressed with this latest delivery. some still had blooms on them. their packing is probably the best of the best and it's also easy to get the plants out and unwrapped once you get the hang of the first one. they have unique and different species to choose from too. you won't be sorry-go for it!On July 8th, 2009, trackinsand added the following:

I am disappointed. Ordered 2 Issai Japanese Beautyberry bushes last Sept & got them in then to get established. One is thriving & one is dead. Almost Eden sticks by a 10 day guarantee with no exceptions. John there said they'd hate to lose a customer over this. I told him there are too many other outlets who stand by their products for a year, & they had lost this customer.

Good-sized plants, well packaged, and true to type. Will definitely order from them again
I got a beautiful carefree beauty rose plant with a lovely bloom. Very healthy plant. Packed well and shipped so quickly. John was wonderful and called me to make sure I didn't have any problems with completing the order. I will certainly do more business with them with complete confidence.
Plants shipped on date requested and were packaged
well with no damage to any plant. Plants were healthy
and well grown. Very pleasant experience, overall,
and will order from them again.

My first order was a Red Mexican Love Vine which arrived in a couple of days after ordering, was well packaged, nice and damp and is climbing daily. I received my second order today, 7/16, which is a Queen's Wreath. It was well packaged, again arrived a couple of days after ordering, was nice and damp is is quite large. I am very happy with both purchases and will order again. Green Thumbs Up to Almost Eden. On August 14th, 2008, jedoody added the following:

I ordered 2 Pink Chaste Trees. They arrived promptly, as usual, but didn't look too good. I emailed John and he responded promptly saying he would replace them. We both thought it probably was the heat (110) and now, after a week, they both are looking good. I have two more coming and will order again. Absolute excellence in quality of plants, packing, and communication. I had thought the shipping was a bit high until I saw the care taken in packaging these plants to ensure they arrive in wonderful condition. Plants were also larger than expected, healthy and robust. Almost Eden is totally deserving of its high ratings. 5 Stars!

I have placed several orders with Almost Eden within the past month- one order was for 37 plants. Every single time I order I am thrilled when I receive my plants because I know I am getting fantastic, healthy, robust plants that are ready to thrive. Almost Eden packs their plants extremely well and I have never had so much as a broken branch even with fairly fragile plants. I have also spoken with their staff over the phone and everyone is wonderfully friendly, helpful, and happy. All in all I would say that this is one of the best online nurseries in the country.

I ordered 2 Passion Flowers, a Carolina Jasmine, and a Polish Clematis. They arrived in about 10 days and were very healthy and lush. They were in 4" pots and all were 2' to 3' in length and lots of roots. They were packed very very well. The best I have ever seen. No loss of soil, they weren't dried out, no damage to them at all, and no yellow leaves. I was very pleasantly surprised and will definitely order from them again.
