They also told me when they expect the plant to be back in stock again. Considering how many amazing houseplants they have, I plan to order from them again in the future. Negative daylily_lady Clinton, MO (2 reviews) August 08, 2009 I received a Northern Lights begonia from this Peppers Green house (Accents for Home and Garden), the main plant was black around the edges and had two smaller rooted pieces with it. I posted a pic on the begonia forum and some of the DG friends thought I should email/write or phone and let them know. I emailed Mr. Pepper and was told they do not send pieces of plants and that I had planted the leaves with no roots, the plants were too wet and in too big a pot. I had JUST gotten them, they did not have time to get in this kind of shape! I had just planted them and washed the dirt off the main plant and the small rooted pieces - of course they were wet!! I have been gardening for over twenty years and my yard and gardens has been on several city and garden tours, I think I know a piece of a plant with roots on it when I see it and I know a POOR quality plant with blackened edges when I take it out of the box. There are too many other nurseries out there to buy from rather than to deal with a rude individual such as this who insinuates his first time buyer/customer (which I was)are such stupid gardeners! This was my first and LAST dealings with Peppers Greenhouse! Positive atajr Detroit, MI (1 review) August 07, 2009 Three months ago, in the spring, I placed an order for a few small advertised Cleyera plants from Pepper's. I sent in my check, and noticed it cleared a few weeks later on my bank statement. Anxious to receive my plants, I emailed Pepper's, inquiring when I could expect my plants. I received a response the next day. They informed me that these plants would not survive in my climate, and promptly asked if I wanted a refund. I then said in another email, that I had a greenhouse for the plants, and was still interested. They then informed me that their Cleyera plants were too small, and were waiting for them to get bigger. About a week ago, I sent another email, again inquiring when I would receive my plants. I have yet to hear a response. If they were closed, or left on vacation, it would seem like an electronic response of some sort would inform me as to what the deal is. I'm disappointed, and would accept a refund now. If you advertise a product, it should be sold to whomever wishes to purchase it. On August 14th, 2009, atajr changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: Yesterday, I received my beautiful Cleyera plants. They were packed well, and received in excellent condition. I previously gave a negative rating because, after an earlier response from Pepper's, I thought they didn't want my business, and after about a four month wait for my plants, it appeared my hunch was correct. However, after posting my dilemma, Pepper's contacted me within one day, and cited being on vacation as reason for the delay in getting back with me, after I recently "re-queried" as to when my plants would ship. All in all, there was probably just poor communication between us. Unfortunately I did not read the "in stock" numbers for the items, and in less than 20 mintues I received a very nice email from them stating 2 items were out of stock. They asked if I wanted the one plant, or did I want to order other items? I apologized and asked that the order be cancelled. I received another nice email very quickly stating that it had been. With 1/2 hour the money had been refunded back into PayPal. My point is, WOW! With customer service like this for a cancellation, why would you not order from them? I will do so as soon as the ones I wanted are back in stock. On July 29th, 2009, ChuLin changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following: On 7/23 I emailed a 3-plant order; paid with PayPal. I received an email stating all three had been sent on Sat the 25th. I received the plants yesterday, but one begonia was missing and a not stated it was out of stock. It was listed as instock when I did the order. I wish I had been contacted as I could have picked another plant. The money and shipping cost for the missing plant has been refunded to Paypal. However, I cannot recommend this company, and would not order from them again. The two plants I received are spindley and do not look good. I was very disappointed. Had I seen these two plants anywhere, I would not have considered buying them for even a dollar each. I do not DO rescue plants...which is what they look like. I had high hopes when I ordered, but was sadly disappointed. On July 29th, 2009, ChuLin added the following: Oh, did I mention the centipedeS? There was one yesterday that crawled out of the begonia, and when I repotted it today, there were three more in the soil. The two plants mentioned were healthy and reasonably sized to the specific variety ordered. We try hard to keep the inventory up to date considering the large variety of plants we offer, however, we will not and do not ship an item if it is not of reasonable quality, therefore inventory may be off slightly on certain items. Two tropical hibiscus(Orange and Red hot) and a Crossandra (Firecracker) plant. I was pretty impressed with their prices. I have not seen any one selling Tropical hibiscus for $4.95. Looking at the prices I was a bit worried about the size of the plants. My order arrived yesterday and all the three plants were individually packed nicely. I'm happy with the size of the plants as well. Hopefully they all will do well for the rest of the season and years to come. Overall it has been a great experience working with Pepper greenhouse and would not hesitate to order again. On July 17th, 2009, atprocks changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following: The Crossandra I had ordered started blooming. It turns out the flowers are yellow. I had actually ordered the orange version. Least I would expect is they deliver the right plant. I waited for 2 months to see the bloom and its giving out different color ? Not happy at all.. Now I have two hibiscus plants which still havent started blooming. Hope the color of their blooms matches with what I ordered. I was very disappointed to receive an email from PayPal (no communication from this seller) telling me that I had received a partial refund for an item that was not in stock. (Nice that they also refunded part of the shipping charge though.) This email was sent the day AFTER the order had shipped, thereby preventing me from having the option of cancelling the order. The plant that was not available was THE plant that I most wanted. (And there was no information as to whether this plant would be available again soon or not.) Because of this, and now having read the negative feedback here, I am not sure if I will order from this vendor again. If I do, it will be with a lot of concern as to how the process will go. To my pleasure, all three delivered healthy plants. The plants from Accent/Peppers were midsize of the three growers (one grower sent larger plants and one sent smaller) and their price was slightly higher. Their shipping was about the same amount as the other two. Their packaging was careful and the plants were in fine condition. I'm sure they will perform beautifully. I was a bit disappointed that one of the plants in my order was out of stock. I was not notified of this prior to shipping; there was just a small handwritten note inside the box that said, "Staghorn oak n/a - Refund to PayPal." When I checked my PayPal account, there was no refund posted, so I emailed and asked about it. They responded by processing the refund the same day. I ordered several tender herbs from this company, which were shipped to my midwest location during a period of below-freezing temperatures and snow [which had been forecasted well before the actual shipping date]. Also, this shipper sent my plants later in the week, which meant that they were left in an unheated postal depot over a weekend. Some of the plants were DOA, while others showed very definite signs of lack of water/light/exposure to freezing temps, but I think with a little care those will pull through. The owner did tell me to ship the plants "I didn't want" back for a refund, but, by the time I pay shipping, it won't be much of a refund. Buy with caution. The plant arrived looking terrible brown and crispy and the soil was desert dry. When I e-mailed the company they responded with how hardy the plant is and they thought it would be fine. I have had the plant a month now (maybe more) and it is just now getting some green leaves. Yes, it is going to be fine, but it will probably take until next year to get it looking like it should. Apparently they neglect the plant because it can tolerate it, and spend their time doing something else.This is not right. If I had been informed I was ordering something that would look like death I wouldn't have paid the price plus shipping. I don't think I should have to wait so long for a plant to look decent. I would not have ordered from them if I had looked here first, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plants arrived alive. They are small but seem to be healthy. They were mailed out on a Friday which surprised me because most places wait until Monday so they won't be left in a warehouse over the weekend. They were pretty dry but not wilted. The shipping was kind of pricey but not outrageous. I will order from them again. They have lots of unusual plants and the prices are good.
