After reading all the negative comments about Rush I thought I should tell of my order from this company. I had forgotten ordering them when they were delivered months later. It has nothing to do with when you order your empress plants they will be shipped during the months they should be planted for your zone. Two plants, 1-2 inches, remained in their shipping packing for days after arrival. I planted them and around the first of April and 8 months later (today is Thanksgiving) one of them is 14 feet tall. The second plant was mowed down before it had a chance. Luckily my dealings with this company was on the positive side.
In the spring of 2009 I ordered 4 of the Royal Empress trees. I planted them as instructed and the first year they were barely 12" high. I wrote on 4/18/10 regarding my dissatisfaction but heard nothing. It is now another 4 months and they are about 36 to 40" tall. Where do they get 12 feet in one season?
Ditto to everything else that has been said. I purchased 8 "Royal Empress Trees" 3 years ago. They arrived looking pretty sickly. We planted them and hoped for the best. They did little or nothing the first year. I mowed them down. They came up the second year, but again did little or nothing. They, like others have said, resembled tall squash plants. I gave them the benifit of the doubt and let them go the third year. They have grown very tall ( 3' to 8') with very large (12" to 16") leaves, but are not trees. Again, they look like tall squash plants. I'm waiting on a response from them (and pigs fly)!! HOW DO YOU SPELL SCAM??? RUSH INDUSTRIES! STAY AWAY! Oh... I also purchased a very large bag of Quickgreen Grass Seed. Not 1 blade of grass came up. Again... STAY AWAY!!!
Ordered "Quickgreen" grass seed that stays green all year long. Sowed it in early May. Did great at first.....about 5-6 weeks later had 3 days of 85 degrees. It turned brown & died. I sent them pics & e-mail message. I was told 30 day guarantee only. Wel,l don't know about other parts of the US, but I don't think 30 days is appropriate & to me, this shows that they know it's a poor product.
My experience is similar to many of the above complaints. After several communications with Rush Industries via their customer support website, I have learned that they only furnish evasive non-answers to complaints. I was informed that they have a 30 day limit on cash back refunds. No mention of this is made in their FAQ website. The instructions that came with the 2 inch tall "trees" said to wait 3 weeks to see if the plants would revive themselves. Given the week or more it takes for the postal service to deliver small packages, this leaves no time at all for the possibility of a refund.
DO NOT GET SUCKED IN BY RUSH INDUSTRIES
Mine is probably the newest . I wish I had belonged to Daves garden befor I ordered from Rush Ind. I ordered Tomato"plants", on 2/5/09 they were supposed come with netting pots . In two weeks an envelope came with a few seeds ,no bed. pots, I e-mailed them a few times ,no response . I called ( no 800 #) on 3/5/09 and the lady I spoke to said they would take care of the problem. Nothing . last couple of weeks I've e-mailed them everyday Lol . Nothing phases this co. I'm like the rest of the disgruntled people .Not happy. I'm at the of my rope .I think thats what they depend on.
I ordered royal empress trees, and according to my growing zone the trees were to be shipped in the month of April. I received the trees(4) during the week of Memorial Day while on vacation. The trees had been sitting on my doorstep in the sun, and were barely alive. I followed the planting instructions, however the plants did not recover.
I called Rush Industries, and they informed me that the plants were not shipped during the regular time due to being out of stock. They then told me to dig the plants up and ship them back at my own cost.
They should have never shipped the plants, knowing that they would not survive the shipping during the month of May/June.
I will never make another purchase from them again
I ordered seed mats which took over 2 weeks to receive and once I received and planted them following their instructions 3 weeks I still have dirt and no plants sprouting at all. Nothing like the claims made on their website. Clearly they are selling defective products and I will move towards a refund and starting a credit card charge back proceeding. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AS THEY SELL DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE.
I ordered 2 jasmine plants from Rush Industries on 2/25/08. The website said the items would be shipped in mid to late April, although I paid for the plants on the order date. When I didn't receive shipment according to their shipping schedule, I went online to find a contact number and found this site. To my dismay there were many negative feedbacks re: Rush Industries. I called Rush with the intention of cancelling my order - but unfortunately my order had been shipped on 5/8/08. On 5/15/08 the plants arrived - dead, dried out -wrapped in paper. Rush made no effort to package the plants to retain moisture-even though their instructions for the plants said to keep the soil evenly moist. I tried soaking the plants in water but they remained dried out. This morning I called Rush Industries. They insisted that I must pay additional money to mail the plant back to them in order to receive a refund (minus their shipping charges).
Thankfully Capital One Visa was willing to reimburse me for the full cost of the plants without having to send back the dead plants to Rush Industries.
DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM RUSH INDUSTRIES.

I purchased 2 Italian Tree Tomato (9.98), 8 Royal Empress Trees (32.00) and 2 Ginkgo Biloba Trees (9.98). Shipping was 13.25 , total of 65.21. No tomato trees ever arrived (they said they sent seeds but I did not order seeds), the Ginkgo Biloba arrived after about 3 or 4 months , both totally dry and dead, 6 of the Royal Empress trees died within weeks of being planted and the other 2 died with the first frost. They were probably tropical plants not suited for the Virginia region where they were advertised. Neither emails, phone calls nor mail resulted in any compensation for the falsely advertised "Tomato Trees", the dead Ginkgo Biloba trees nor the Royal Empress trees that died. The company is a rip off, using deceptive ads and refusing to back up their shipments that arrive dead at the destination.

Purchased two tree's from them in April of LAST year. Never got them.. called, they said, we will mail them again.. Never got them. Called again.. they said, they would be mailed for fall planting.. never got those.. called again.. they said, they dont have any tree's left, and would give me a credit for the purchase amount.. minus the shipping. I complained, i never got the tree's, why do i have to pay shipping. They agreed to a full refund, been 8 weeks... nothing.. Terrible company!!!!

Rush Industries: I have no idea how they stay in business what with their lies in newspapers. I ordered two Royal Empress trees on February 28, they were shipped on April 12. I do not remember the date I received them, but, two brown twigs 1 1/2 inches long wrapped in dried out brown mulch arrived dead. Instructions: Plant and watch them grow, do not pay attention to condition received, just keep watered. Nothing happened, I returned them like instructions said. Never heard, called and was told money paid would be forthcoming, nothing came. I would suppose this company plays a waiting game to see if anyone responds. Today I called again and was told I only had 30 days from time of purchase to return the items. So basically I waited 1 1/2 month to receive the dead trees, followed instructions, did not know I had only thirty days to return and am out $13.93 cents. I wonder how many $13.93 cents they report. Maybe I can take this amount off my income tax. Perhaps everyone should and the company would have to come up with a lot of tax monies.
I ordered eight plants. I only received two. I have e-mailed four times and can't even get an answer from them. As far as I am concerned they stole my money. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. I am turning them in to the Better Business Bureau. I have a feeling it won't be the first time!!
On March 29th I placed an order by credit card for italian tomato trees/money was taken out the next day/after many phone calls to find out where my shipment was as where i live we have a short growing season, received my order today. June 7th 2007 .To my surprize there was 2 pods and 6 seeds/my order was for 3 plants.Called them and they told me to send the plants back and i'd be refunded(what plants i received seeds)Best advice i can give is FORGET ABOUT RUSH INDUSTRIES
I paid for my order(2 plants) by credit card and the money was deducted well before the order came,(two months) so I became worried and tried unsuccessfully to contact them by email. After seeing your "take" on the company and getting the phone number from you, I called. They were most businesslike and said my order had been shipped the previous Monday and I did receive the plants the following day and they had been shipped when they said and I must say they were in fine shape, very well-packed. They are already in and doing extremely well, so I can't complain.
Thanks for galvanizing me. Glad to have found you.
This is absolutely the WORST company I have ever done business with and should be the poster child for internet fraud. The only thing that seems to work at Rush is their order form. Once they have your money, as they say in New York, "Fu-ged-aboud-it". I complained about the dead trees they shipped 3 times and they never responded. I then returned, at my expense, the 10 dead trees, via Priority Mail and they never responded to that or subsequent follow-ups. Your choice in dealing with this company is that (a) you are dealing with thieves or (b) you will be dealing with incompetent nincompoops who feel that charging your credit card is their ONLY PRIORITY. BE WARNED!!!!!!!
I ordered two empress trees for my grandsons to give to their mother for Mothers' Day. They arrived with no leaves and stems mushy and broken off one inch above the pot. The directions said to plant them anyway, which I attempted. I consider it a waste of time and postage to return these, especially to have them replaced by others of such poor quality. Even if they were healthy, the seedlings were hardly bigger than a blade of grass!
I totally agree with the negative comments by other customers of Rush Industries. I have had the same exprience. I ordered four "Royal Impress Trees" and eight Italian Tomato Plants. The trees came as 3inch seedlings and the tomato plants as a few seeds. I was very surprised and think this is a scam business that should be stopped from operating for false advertising and false merchandising.
On Feb 7 06 ordered 8 Royal Empress trees. March 28 trees had not arrived, called answered by Lori who said they were shipped on 28 Mar. Called again on April 17, said they had been shipped. Trees or should I say sprouted seeds which most were brown and most of the few leaves had fallen off arrived on April 19. Called and told of the condition of the plants, instuctions were to plant them and wait. Did as instructed but anyone with any horticultural experience would know they were dead. On May 1st it was evident plants were dead. Mailed the plants back to the company via 1st class mail for refund. Called 10 July as no refund had been received, assured refund would be forthcoming. Letter dated July 10 received stating order was shipped on 28 March and and since order was returned over 30 days from the shipping date the 30 day guarantee had expired and no refund would be honored This was signed by Linda Harrison, customer relations. 23 days in transit, no wonder they were dead. They consider the 30 days from the date they ship rather than the date you receive. The parcel didnot have a date shipped. I would never, never do business with this company nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. I notice they are advertising in AARP magizine, I will also complain to them.

ON APRIL 3, 2006, I ORDERED TWO GUAVA PLANTS AND PAID EXTRA TO HAVE THEM SHIPPED EXPRESS MAIL. I RECEIVED THE PLANTS ON JUNE 8, 2006, AND THEY WERE VERY DEAD. WHEN I COMPLAINED, THE RESPONSE WAS THAT I SHOULD SEND THE DEAD PLANTS BACK. I REQUESTED A CALL TAG OR ACCOUNT # TO CHARGE THEM FOR THE FREIGHT(LIKE MOST LEGITIMATE COMPANIES DO). I REFUSE TO PAY ANY MORE MONEY ON FREIGHT, SINCE I ALREADY PAID EXTRA FOR FREIGHT. I SENT A DIGITAL PICTURE OF THE DEAD PLANTS AND SENT A PICTURE VIA MAIL. TODAY IS JULY 31, 2006. I LOOKED AT MY COMPLAINT TICKET ON THEIR WEB SITE AND NOTICED ALL OF MY COMPLAINTS WERE RECEIVED ,BUT THEY CLOSED MY COMPLAINT TICKET. CLOSING MY COMPLAINT BEFORE IT WAS RESOLVED DOES NOT MAKE ME HAPPY.
I ordered two banana plants in April 2006. After a few weeks I submitted a ticket on Rush's website for update on my order. No response and the tkt disappeared. Submitted another and no reponse. I called them and they told me the order would be here Mid May and said their email/tkt system had been down........yea right. I have updated my tkt several times...nothing. Well...its June 15 and still no order and no response from them. Its my first time being ripped off from internet ordering so I guess I have been lucky. I was going to place a larger order and so glad I did not. These terrible people used to sell on EBAY but nothing now thank goodness for ebay users. I wish there was a place to get the complaints recognized and put them out of business.
I ordered 2 Empress trees from Rush Ind. on March 28, 2006. I was promised that the trees would be delivered by UPS on or about April 17, 2006. I had paid for express delivery but did not received it. I called and emailed Rush Industries several different times. No reply to any of my inquiries. Today, May 20, 2006, I received my so-called trees by USPS in a container that was about 5inches by 7inches in size. The so-called trees were in that container but absolutely dead. Totally dried out and all the leaves were brown and dry. The trees were about 2 inches in heighth. What a rip-off. Do not deal with this company.
The trees are beautiful in the pictures and said to grow 12 feet in one year. It is hard to grow a dead plant!!!
On 3/5/06 I ordered online 2 Royal Empress trees; recv'd an email that the order had been recv'd on 3/5/06 and that my credit card had been billed; today is 5/19/06 and I still haven't recv'd the trees; after sending two unanswered emails cld Rush on 4/25/06 & was told trees should be there by Fri 4/28/06; no trees; cld again on 5/1/06 was told that Rush would reorder the trees & ship ASAP; cld on 5/11/06 only to find that the trees were just ordered on 5/9/06; Rush advised 2 weeks; still no trees; cld on 5/16/06 talked to supposed supervisor, Christina, who said trees would definately be here by 5/19/06; no trees; cld Christina back who then admitted she was not a supervisor (she lied to us); said she would be crediting my credit card within 24 hours; we'll see! she needn't bother tho, I am disputing the charges which will lead into an investigation of this company; or should I say another investigation of this company;
Also found several actual court cases against RushIndustries & a bunch of other complaint sites on this company.
DO NOT DEAL WITH RUSH INDUSTRIES, EVER!
I dealt with Rush Industries once and that was TOO MANY times. My plants came somewhat alive but were dead within a week. They told me to give them a chance to grow and a month later after spending my money to ship them back they told me I waited too long and they will NOT credit or refund my purchase.
It took me two months of calling and very little or no replies. This is NOT a nursery!!!!!

I totaly agree with the previous assessment of the Rush Industry; it is a SCAM company. All six plants arrived dead, in spite of the fact that I have paid extra for the express delivery. The shipment arrived in a month after I have placed an order. No customer service whatsoever. If you want to loose your money and waste your time by trying to revive plants, then go ahead, order from them.

I ordered 2 sets of trees(8 in all) from Rush Industries, Royal Empress trees. The first group, the 4 trees arrived -1 appeared to be strong but the others looked thin and spindly but planted them anyway in 2 days, 3 wilted and died. One hung on. I was shocked as this was suppose to be a hardy tree growing in less than perfect soils. I reordered another set but did tell Rush Industries of my disappointment that 3 trees didn't last a week. The next batch looked worse and after carefully removing these from the packaging all the leaves fell off. I put them in the ground. The instructions say trees might wilt but come back. They wilted and died. Miffed I wrote Rush Industries about my lack of success. 8 trees and only one survived. They did refund one "set" to my credit card. The lone tree has been growing since May and it isn't even 8 inches high yet. I don't think the tree will live up to their advertising claims-but I am hoping. Our region is harsh but my neighbor has the same trees and they are doing wonderfully. Hers were grown from seed not plants..stick to good seed.

I ordered 4 Royal Empress trees. After receiving and planting the saplings over a year ago, they have grown to about 6 inches tall with big broad leaves and resemble a squash plant. These are not trees in any sense. Have requested corrected shipment through their web site and recieve no response. No customer service. This company is a scam. Stay away from their mail order business.
