Like many others here. I was scammed by this WormMan merchant. I ordered some milk-worms and they never shipped it. They did reply with some generic email response signed "Raque" and then completely vanished. Calling them is also useless. I had to call my bank to dispute the transaction and to be safe cancel the card. What a headache. Avoid this vendor at all cost!!!!

I made an order for 2000 mealworms on 9-11-2010 expecting the order to be sent out on the following monday, on thursday, 6 days later, email status still said "processing". After calling the given number and leaving a message on the answering machine, I began to get suspicious. No reply by the next morning so I called again and got a disconnected number message. I then emailed a nasty note and received a response from 'Raquel' who apoligized and promised shipment on Monday. Still nothing. I have since recooped my stolen money from my bank and have filed a complaint with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Office of Consumer Protection. and I would suggest that each and every one of you do the same if we are to ever stop this guy. WHAT A SCUMBAG!!!
I tried ordering from the Wormman without success. Though I order plenty of things on-line, it seemed like I had a terrible time navatating their site. I am glad I did because I gave up and found your commentaries. I found an alternativeed source for worms. I joined Dave's Garden. Thanks.

I placed an order (#85647) on October 2nd, 2009 for one culture of grindal worms. I paid them $10.95 with my credit card. I assumed I would receive in the next 7-10 days.
I received an email shortly after placing the order from 2Checkout.com (email@example.com) confirming the order from Worm Man's Worm Farm, LLC.
After three weeks and no worms I looked up their contact information to inquire. As noted by others here, they do not have a phone number listed. I emailed firstname.lastname@example.org on October 23rd to find out where the order was.
I received the following email response one week later:
Sent: Fri, October 30, 2009 10:34:14 AM
Subject: Re: Your Order, 85647 at Worm Man's Worm and Crickets Farm
I apologize for not responding sooner and that you haven't received your order. The grindal worms are in stock, and I'll make sure they are shipped tomorrow via USPS Priority Mail to arrive by Monday or Tuesday.
Thank you for your patience and once again, thank you for your order with us. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Wormman's Worm Farm
I wanted until November 11th to contact them again when nothing arrived. I sent a reply email to the same email address as listed above asking about the order that I was told would be shipped on October 31st. Less than three hours later I received the following response and it was the last I have heard from them:

Yes, the worms should've gone out then. I can ship them first thing tomorrow morning, and you should hopefully receive them by Saturday as USPS Priority Mail is an estimated delivery of 2-3 days. I don't want to risk having them sit in the post office over the weekend since you are located in FL. I'll forward the tracking # to you once they are shipped.
I sent another 3-4 emails to them and tried their website contact interface, but as of today, February 24th I haven't heard from them again and still haven't received the order from October 2nd. I filed with my credit card and did receive my money back. It wasn't until today that I saw the link to this website on the wormman forum.
Has this crook been prosecuted?

I have not received my shipment. I paid for my crickets in full and did not receive them. There is no phone number. I have sent an e-mail requesting a full refund but have not received a response.
Since i am a high school teacher and on a tight budget the students are now unable to complete an experiment on cricket behavior.
I find it insulting that this person, Ken Chiarella is scamming people out of money and is also serving on the Monroe Township Board of Education (see link below). I can only imagine how is running a school district if this is how he runs his own business.
Terrible experience. Advertises low prices, gets your money, doesn't ship, ignores your emails. Then he lies to you about sending the order and makes up excuses. Scammer. Run away from this guy. Wish I would have read this site first.

I placed an order for wax worms on September 2 and hadn't received any status updates in 2 1/2 weeks. The link they provide to track your order status on their website is a joke... it continually says "Order Received. Processing". After receiving my credit card statement and noticing a charge for an order I never received, I sent an email to Worm Man inquiring about it. I also tried calling but the number is disconnected. I had to Google the company to obtain a phone number because it has been removed from their website.
I did not receive a reply from my email. In the meantime, I did a little research and found all the negative comments about the company on other sites including this one. I also found out they have over 100 complaints filed against them with the Better Business Bureau of New Jersey (http://www.bbb.org/new-jersey/business-reviews/earthworms/wo...) So, I sent another email threatening if I didn't get a response by the end of the day I was having the credit card charges reversed and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I received a reply within 10 minutes! They claimed they never got my first email (yeah, right) and that I should have received the order the previous week. They said they would ship the worms out on Saturday for Monday delivery. I sent a thank you reply but also included a link to this site so they can read what their customers think of them.
Surprisingly, I received a shipment notification from the USPS on Saturday and received the worms in the mail on Monday.
Based on all the negative feedback and complaints filed with the BBB, something is seriously wrong with this company. And its a shame nothing can be done about them ripping people off. Think of all the money the owner, Ken Chiarella, must be making off of hundreds of $20 dollar orders... a lot of people probably just let it go and don't pursue getting their money back.

An awful experience. Order placed on 9/1/09. As of 9/9 I had not heard anything so I sent several e-mails. Never heard any response. I complained to the credit card processor who was great. They sent e-mails to Wormman and said they would reverse the charges.
Only when CC processor gave deadline to reverse the charge did I get an e-mail from them saying ironically enough that my worms had been shipped that day. 10 hours later I get a notice from USPS that a shipment was being made.
Wish I had found this review before I ordered. I'm sending this link with all the complaints to the Credit Card company.
Avoid them. There are good people who really want and need your business.
October 25, 2008 I placed an order with them and 2 week later after getting nothing from them in the mail I sent e-mails every other day for a week trying to get something back from them but got nothing. I had to go into paypal and have the charges reversed and even then they did not respond! They had 14-30 days where they could have done something and didn't thankfully paypal sided in my favor! All they would have had to do is provide tracking info but they obviously had sent nothing. Just FYI wormman.com had recently been put under new ownership just before I placed my order (I believe not sure) however this also seems to be the same time they started getting alot of negative feedback.
I had a monthly automatic delivery system with The Wormman for a year and a half and then the shipments just quit. I tried calling and emailing them without a response. I left several messages. Finally, I reached them and they sent me waxworms but after a month of waiting and them already charging my account. They also continued to charge my credit card two months after they stopped shipping their worms.
I placed an order with this company on 12/20/08. I expected a slight delay due to the holidays. But on 12/30/08, my order was still listed as "Processing", so I sent an email inquiring when my crickets would ship. Received an automated email, nothing further. I waited 3 days and I sent another email. The same thing happened - automated email, no customer service at all. When I finally had had enough and called the number on the site, I discovered that it is disconnected. There is no other way to contact them. They charged me in full for my order the day I placed it. I called the number again today to see if it was still disconnect and sure enough, it is. I just finished filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I encourage anyone else who had a problem with these theives to do the same. Now I have to hope my bank will help me out with this and that I can obtained a refund. What a disgraceful business - DO NOT USE THEM!
I ordered mealworms back on September 10 for my son's bearded dragon. The status us my order continually showed that the shipment was delayed due to weather. I emailed several times and called and left voicemails. Every time I asked a question at the site, I received an automated email, but no actual response. I asked at the end of November that the order be cancelled which was the only thing that they did do, but I had already paid through Paypal. Again, I asked about my refund and received no response. I filed a claim through paypal which closed it immediately because it had been more than the 45 days since my order. I felt like I was being punished for being patient. When I called Paypal to explain the situation, they were very helpful and immediately credited the $16 for the mealworms to my account. The lady told me that you should open a dispute right away if there are ever any problems with an order. It wasn't that it was a lot of money, it was the principle of the whole thing. I would never do business with this company again and I strongly encourage others to avoid them also. I wish I would have found this website before I ordered.

I have used Wormman for the past 4 or 5 years to order crickets and mealworms. I have always had wonderful service from them. But in September they didn't ship my crickets for weeks. After days and days, I finally got a response from them that they shipped the crickets but of course they couldn't provide me a tracking number. It took about another week for them to finally get me my crickets. However, I was so desperate for food for my animals, I had to order crickets from another dealer in the interim period. I didn't use them for a couple months but decided to give them another shot figuring it was a one time screw up.
I ordered 1000 crickets on November 24th, figuring that they wouldn't ship until the next week because of the holiday. It's now December 8th and still no crickets. I tried calling them, the number is disconnected! Opened a case with their support and emailed them, still nothing. Of course I am billed as soon as I place the order so they already have my money and I have nothing.
Something is seriously wrong at this company, I plan on reporting them to whoever I can think of...I consider this stealing.
Man I wish I found this before I threw away my money, this guy is stealing peoples hard earned money and he needs to be stopped. I urge all of you who have had bad dealing to report this guy to paylpal and to google and anyone esle you can, post on forums, tell your friends anything to stop this jerk. He stole about 30$ from me and who knows how much theyve got from all the people that theyve ripped off, at some point it has to be a felonly, if someone knows any info on that Id apreciate it, in fact I think I will get the police involved here and see if they can do anything to this guy before he has a chance to steal again.
I have ordered crickets, mealworms, and superworms from Wormman since February of 2005. I always had good service. But then on October 9th, 2008 I ordered 2000 crickets to be delivered to the high school where I work as a biology teacher. The order never came. I waited ten days before I tried to email or call, but my calls and emails have gone unanswered. Their phone voicemail box is full. The phone number on the website is a number no longer in use. All of my emails have been returned to sender. BUT, I WAS CHARGED $36.02 FOR MY ORDER THAT I NEVER GOT! (I am writing this on November 16, 2008!) Something is wrong at Wormman, and I want my crickets or my money back. I got an email from someone at the company a couple weeks ago telling me they had been having troubles with their delivery service and wanted to know whether or not I wanted my crickets? I told them to mail them if they HAD charged my credit card but to NOT BOTHER if they had NOT charged my card. Like I said, I got the bill but no crickets. I think this company owes a lot of people an explaination.
I ordered crickets on 10/21/2008. They were quick to take my money and I still have not received the crickets. I have e-mailed them 3 times with no response. So much for the statement that they are always at their computers and they answer their emails within 24 hours. Do not order from them.. I have ordered from them 4 times in the past year and only 1 time did they actually send my order in a timely manner. Be very wary of this company.
I ordered crickets in on September 16. I did not get them until September 27, after several inquires about my order. They said they had experienced problems and this was not normal. I guess I am too trusting. I placed another order on October 7, it is now October 21 and I am still waiting. They have charged my credit card and their site does not show an order being processed. I have contacted them several times and have yet to get a response. I just hope I am able to get a refund. Wish I had seen this site earlier.
I ordered Phoenix worms from Wormman Farm because I could save a few $$ compared to Mulberry Farm. I tried to track my order on their website, but it said I hadn't ordered anything. Ok, buggy site, no problem.
After a few days and the charge immediately clearing my bank, I emailed them to see when to expect them to arrive. My first email to customer service bounced back because their email was full, so I used the chat feature on their website to send an offline message. That made it through.
I was told that THEY WERE WAITING TO GET THEM IN. OMG!
And said it should be by the end of the week. In the meantime I ordered from Mulberry farms and received my worms from them in 3 days. After that, I emailed wormman again to ask for a refund. On the 9th of Sept. I was told, "Sorry and we'll issue a refund"
Guess what? I'm not having to deal with my bank to get the charge reversed and wormman has stopped communicating with me.
Ordered superworm bedding from this company... Received an email a week later letting me know it had shipped and should receive it withing 3 days. After about a week I tried to contact them several times but they did not answer my emails and you can't talk to a person on the phone you have to leave a message but they did not answer those either. They have let me know a couple of times every couple of weeks it has shipped again but still no package. I have asked for a refund but they said it has already shipped again. This has to be the worst internet company I have ever TRIED to buy from, will never use them again and will let everyone know what a rip off they are.
very good company. For several years now I have worked with Wormman who has provided me with the necessary supplies to breed my reptiles, mainly geckos. I was kept up to date about my orders whenever I needed to be and if there was ever a problem a resolution soon followed. For example last week I ordered 5000 mealworms from them. The next day I recieved a shipping confirmation with an ETA and from there It only took 2 days for the order to appear on my front steps in great condition with only one or two dead worms. In all, I think that wormman has excelent buissness with great customer service and high quality products. I am also glad to say that I will continue doing buissness with them and will not cease to do in the near future.
Ordered June 30th. Next day Worm Man notified me that due to heat and the 4th of July long weekend holiday that they would ship on July 7th. By July 14th no word and no shipment was received. Another inquiry brought the answer that they were out, were to receive their re-stock and would send immediately. July 20th, no order nor further word received. Read the rest of these posts to obtain the insight that this company is duplicitous, untrustworthy and outright liars. I'm calling my credit card company to dispute and overturn the Worm Man charge made to my account on June 30th. Save yourself the trouble of being lied to. Don't deal with Worm Man.
I will never do business with this company again. I ordered mealworm bedding and a couple weeks later, when I went to actually use the stuff, there were spiderwebs, tiny beetles and little gnats or moths or something in the bedding. It's completely unusable for my mealies now.
I will agree with most here, that the shipping is quite slow.
I was supposed to receive my order yesterday the 17 th, but no show.
Tried to call, but only got a recording, so I would have to say that they are very difficult to get a hold of!
Also, there tracking system does not tell you much.

I ordered almost two months ago. Received nothing...heard nothing...emails and calls unanswered. Had the charge reversed (and settled!) via Visa and have long since purchased from another vendor.
Today I received email that my package is on its way. They must be joking. Really, I order 90% of everything over the internet, and no one has even come close to pitiful service offered here. Can't imagine how they're in business.
I placed an internet order 3-4 weeks ago. After 2 weeks, I checked the status of my order online and the website said my order had been accepted and they were "processing" it. Another week went by - no worms had arrived. I then called them several times - each time, noone answered the phone, and I left a message inquiring about the status of my order. I have called multiple times since, at random times during the day during their business hours - no one ever answers the phone. I have left 3 messages and emailed them to find out when I might be getting my worms. As of today, I have recieved no response and no worms. I am going to cancel my order and go with someone else. I order with internet companies all the time, and this is definitely the worst customer service I have experienced from a company in a long time.
I ordered fruit flies for my froglets who so far haven't eaten anything I've given them.
I ordered on the 12th, and hoped that I would receive them in a couple of days. On the 14th I realized that my confirmation email said to make sure I was home to receive my order, but didn't mention a shipping date at all. I replied to that email to find out when I should expect them, but got no response. I tried the 'tracking' link but it had no information. I then tried the 'online chat' the next day, and got no response. On the 16th, I filled out their email form, enclosing my prior email. I tried calling the number, and found that the mailbox was full.
This is either a really poorly run business, or a company which has grown faster than they can support. They really need to have better customer communication and order fulfillment.

I ordered the 5-pound Garden Culture mix of worms from Wormman because, by including free shipping, they had the best price. I paid through PayPal; the payment cleared November 8, and I received an email from the company telling me that my order was now in process and I could track it. So far I was happy. For the next ten days, the tracking page still said my order was in process. Now I wasn't happy. On November 19 I sent an email asking when the order would be shipped. I received an answer in two hours, telling me that the order was being shipped that day. Now I was happy again, and even happier when the shipment arrived on Wednesday. I had mixed feelings when I opened the package, because I've opened bags of one pound of red wrigglers that looked like more worms than that. Amateur eyeballs are a totally unscientific measurement, however, and I did not sit down and count the worms. I turned them loose in the garden. They were all healthy and dug themselves in right away.
Next spring I'll try a different company's 5-pound Garden Culture and see what it looks like. For now, I'm positive-with-reservations on Wormman. In comparison with other suppliers, I have to make my rating Neutral.
I placed order for 1 lb of red wigglers, and received email that it will be shipped soon.
When status showed no shipping 1 week after order, I emailed twice to ask about the status (respond to notification email from wormman, and also via their website). There was no response. I emailed again, and still there was no response.
When status showed no shipping 2 weeks after order, I emailed and called again. Finally someone responds that someone "should have" emailed me the shipping date. (This was not done). This email also provided the shipping date.
When status showed no shipping 3 weeks after order, on the supposed shipping date from above, I emailed again 2x. To my surprise, Wormman actually responded to my second inquiry.
Finally, the worms shipped, and I received them about 1 month after the order.

Order was placed and my account was charged immediately. A week later my order was still pending according to the order tracking system on their website. After submitting a request for information via their webform and multiple messages left on their customer service numbers I finally canceled my order after 15 days of waiting.
On day 16 I get an email in response to my initial webform request letting me know my order would go out sometime in the next week.
I let them know that I had already canceled my order the previous day using their online system, I had already ordered from another vendor due to their poor customer service and I expected a full refund. To my surprise they applied a full refunded to my card in just a few hours.
I don't know if they were just having a bad few weeks, but I will not be placing an order with them again and can't recommend them.
Three weeks after ordering worms from this guy (my account was drafted the day after I ordered), after attempts to contact customer support, I sent 8 back to back nastygrams to Wormmans customer support email address in hopes of raising the dead. I then digitally tracked Wormman down, emailed him at an alternate address and threatened him with a civil suit if I didnt get a response. Bingo. I recieved emails from two entities, one stating that blanket mailings had gone out about nonshipment due to high temps. It was suggested that I must have had a firewall up since I did not recieve the email. Nevermind that I was recieving customer service emails just fine. Nevermind that Worm Guy drafted my account. Nevermind Worm Establishment didnt post the problem on the website which I was on searching for Wormmans castings and for any information that might lead to quick resolution. This guy doesnt care about his business. He is all about self promotion. He ran for a local office up yonder. Check for yourself, but dont order from this Wormman.
I made a small order for a cup of phoenix worms. This site had the best price on them and also is only a few hours away. I thought that I would have had my worms days ago. Instead, my order has been "received and processing" for a complete business week now. Most sites take up to 48 hours to process an order. This is the first time I've ever come across a site that took longer than that. It's like they didn't even bother to look at my order.
Regardless of whether or not the worms I ordered show up, I will never do business with this company again. This type of extended processing time without any indication as to what is going on is completely unacceptable. If they're out of stock then contact me and let me know. Don't leave me guessing.
I ordered 1Lb European Nightcrawler from them. After over a week without receiving any shipping confirmation and no answer to my email inquiries, I was getting worried. Then the worm just showed up on my doorstep. Happy, right? Wrong! All worms are dead, obviously due to the hot summer weather. Imagine they stayed in the trunk of the USPS truck for nearly a day!
I sent a complaint to Wormman, with little hope of getting any response. To my surprise, they responded within two days, asking what I wanted to do, a replacement or a full refund. I chose refund. Today I received notice from Google checkout that Wormman has refunded my credit card!
Although their customer service has much to be improved, especially on providing timely shipping confirmation and answers to customers' inquiries, I DO believe that Wormman is a trustworth vendor. On a side note, the quality of their worms is top notch. The worms I received were fat and pure (with no red worms mixed in). Pity that they didn't survive the shipping.
Once it cools down, I will definitely buy worms again from them.

WORST Possible internet order I've ever made.
I ordered a bin and worms well over 1 month ago....the bin finally showed up (after I sent them multiple emails), but I have no worms -- STILL. Even though they have my money.
I will be submitted a partial chargeback with my credit card company on Monday, and I STRONGLY urge anyone thinking about placing an order with this company to STAY AWAY !!! It is not worth it, and there are plenty of other reputable companies out there.
My deepest regrets for placing an order with the worm man.
