All 10 trees are doing very well. Lees has the best quality mail order trees I've seen. I would definitely recommend Lee's. | | Positive | moersdo (1 review) | On February 3, 2008, moersdo Knoxville, TN wrote: I ordered 5 hybrid poplar trees and they arrived within one week. All are sized as promised (3-5') and have been pruned to fit into shipping box. Root system has been trimmed slightly also, I am just hoping this will not impact their survival this spring. I live in an area with heavy clay soil so I excavated holes 3' wide x 2' deep and amending with good quality compost and topsoil. Hope this works. | | Negative | glendalekid (17 reviews) | On June 12, 2007, glendalekid Tuscaloosa, AL (Zone 7b) wrote:I ordered 10 bareroot plants from this nursery on eBay. The prices are low, and the shipping is reasonable.
However, all plants arrived in a very dried condition with very few roots. The Roses of Sharon and another plant (which I've forgotten the name), and the two trumpet vines are doing well. Of the three crepe myrtles, the purple one did not leaf out but is growing from the root. The white crepe myrtle and the red crepe myrtle did not leaf out and today, nearly 60 days later, there is no sign of life in them. The abelia also has not to date leafed out.
I contacted them (40 days after my order arrived) and requested replacements for the red and white crepe myrtles and for the abelia. They did not reply to my email. When I wrote again, I was told that they had replied to my previous email and asked me to scrape the bark on the three plants. I did so, an reported to them that the abelia showed green but the two crepe myrtles were brown and dead.
To date, I have received no further emails from them nor have I received any replacement plants. The abelia cost $3.98 (2-3 ft), the crepe myrtles (3-4 ft) cost $8.98 each + shipping. So, I am out nearly $25.00 not counting the $8.98 crepe myrtle which is growing from the root after I paid for a 3-4' plant. I feel that one should also have been replaced but I did not specifically request it. So, in the long run, the "good" price for the plants an the "reasonable" shipping was not a bargain after all.
They state they have a one-year guarantee. It does not appear to me that they have any guarantee.
I would not consider doing business with them again.

You can't beat the low price and shipping costs. They have not broken dormancy yet, but they are still green and flexible. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens. At these low prices, you can't go wrong. | | Positive | Real_McCoy (1 review) | On March 16, 2006, Real_McCoy Pleasant Hill, TN wrote: I just returned from Lee's Nursery today, March 15th 2006. I too found them on Ebay but because I'm only 50 miles away from them I drove to their location. I made a call and she gave great directions. I was surprised at how low their prices were. bareroot apple trees 3 yr old $7.50.
The trees looked great and they were more than helpfull with information on how to plant and care for them. Also told me to call them with any questions....
I will visit them again and buy more......
From me they get an A+++++++++++++

They were nice sized trees but I was dissappointed at the lack of root system they had. It's still winter so it remains to be seen how well they will do this spring. | | Negative | praisedivine (1 review) | On August 21, 2005, praisedivine Blue Ridge, GA wrote: I had disappointing experience with fruit trees puirchased seven years ago. I was in their neighborhood two weeks ago and was unable to find Lee's Nursery in the phone book and a relative who resides there did not know Lee's Nursery. I presume they have closed. | | Positive | rosieogrady (1 review) | On July 7, 2005, rosieogrady oxford, MS (Zone 7a) wrote:I ordered 2 golden rain trees priced at somewhere in the area of $3.75 each. My local nurseries had them priced all the way to $100.00! Melinda sent me a nice email explaining the package was not mailed immediately because she had an imergency out of town. They arrived today and are in excellent condition. One looks to be about 3 ft and the other a little smaller. I bedded them out since it is so horribly hot in the area where they will be planted. They are such a find, that I will see if I can locate someother plants from this nursery. | | Positive | scarymonstermom (2 reviews) | On January 26, 2005, scarymonstermom Millstone, NJ wrote: I ordered several items last spring from Lee's Nursery. The bareroot trees were a nice size and the price is very reasonable. I'm often reluctent to buy something through the mail if the price seems too good to be true (you know the old saying, "you get what you pay for"), however, I am very pleased with how my trees are doing, and the company is there to help with any questions. I plan to order several more trees in March, and I imagine if the next shipment is as satisfactory as the first, I will be a "regular." This is a great place to get nice trees, shrubs, etc. without breaking the bank. I'm very pleased. | | Positive | vannmarie (18 reviews) | On September 6, 2003, vannmarie Cordova, MD wrote: I found this company on e-bay when I was looking for a certain tree. I ordered ten different shade trees. Only one is still living. It was early June, so it was a bit late to be shipping bare root trees. I contacted the company and they said they would replace the trees (five were dead when received). They thought that the trees might have been damaged in transit. The e-mail was friendly, the company gets excellent reviews on e-bay and prices are very good for the size of the trees. Because of this, I decided to order a few more things this fall to be sent with my replacements. I will change this comment to a positive if all goes well. I am curious to know if anyone else here has dealt with this company. On November 25th, 2003, vannmarie changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:
I would have to say I would order from them again if they have things I am looking for. My replacement trees arrived and I am very satisfied for the price (e.g., ten good size trees for $25.00 - mix and match). They all looked healthy this time and the e-mail correspondence is very friendly. I believe they stand behind their plants. |
