Closed As of January 2008, the website is no longer working. A reader notified us that Josie Buckner is deceased, and on behalf of the Garden Watchdog, we wish to extend our sincere condolences to her family.

I hate to hear that Miss Josie has passed away!!! I live near Huntsville, and for the past several years I went and visited her garden. It took me off guard the first time I met her, and saw that she was running this operation while confined to a wheel chair. She was always very sweet to my girls, and always gave us a free plant. My daylilies that I got from her are wonderful, I never saw any unhealthy plants! I am saddened to think I will not be able to go there this year.

I placed an order to Josie Buckner in the spring 2007 (more then $1000).
She was not able to send me daylily in the spring and wrote she will do that in November.
In November I sent her e.mail with question about my order, but her e.mail was inactive.

I have been buying from Josie on both the eBay Auction and Lily Auction for about 4 years. I have ONLY lost 2 of her plants, NO fault of her's. I bought them in the Fall and waited to late to plant them. They heaved over the Winter and I Lost them. I have bought many from her and everyone has been healthy and well cared for. Small and Large..all were very good plants. I will continue to buy from her for years to come. In my opinon, she is one of the top two seller's on both of those auction sites, PERIOD. It doesn't get any better then Josies Buckner's...you can buy with total confidence and she has always stood behind her plants and fabulous reputation!

The plants I received were not at all in good shape, extremely small and with very poor root systems. One was so small that I almost missed it until I went back to the list and realized one was missing. I called and the owner said that I could return them but when I asked she assured me that they would be ok. I made the mistake of keeping them and two out of four died. The owner paid me back for one but said it was too late for the other and I must be doing something wrong. I have more than 50 daylilies and these are the first two I have had die. Each was planted next to other new daylilies that are happily growing.

If you are not happy with the plants you get, this vendor will take them back. Just be sure to return them and don't try to get them to grow no matter what. Personally, I won't buy from this vendor again.


On October 24th, 2005, doss changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following:

A third out of the four daylilies that I got from this vendor didn\'t make it. I admit that it was my fault that I kept the daylilies in the shape that they came in. But after the vendor promised that they would grow she should have stood behind them.

Josie has always provided me with top quality daylilies at an affordable price, she has live auctions currently running every night on several auction sites. I will keep buying her flowers cause they are the best!
