THIS IS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME I WILL ORDER FROM HANKS. I SENT 3 ORDERS, MY FIRST ORDER WAS SOMEWHAT FILLED WITH WHAT I ORDERED AND 6 THAT HAD I.O.U. NEXT TO THE PLANT. THE SECOND ORDER WAS COMPLETE, THE THIRD ORDER DIDN'T ARRIVE WITH THE FIRST TWO. I HAVE E-MAILED AND E-MAILED AND NO RESPONSE. I CALLED THEY WOULD BE SHIPPED NEXT WEEK, THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO, AND NO IRISES, SO I CALLED AGAIN, I'LL SHIP THEM NEXT WEEK IF THAT'S OK. THAT'S OK. WELL NEXT WEEK HAS COME AND GONE AND STILL NO IRISES. I E-MAILED AGAIN AND ASK FOR A REFUND OR MY ORDER. NO RESPONSE. SHE CLAIMS SHE HASN'T GOTTEN MY E-MAILS. SO I AM NOT HAPPY WITH HANK'S IRISES.
MOST OF THE ONES I RECEIVED WERE VERY SMALL, SO I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. GUESS SHREINER'S HAS ME SPOILED. I'LL GET FEWER IRISES FROM SCHREINERS, BUT AT LEAST I WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE END RESULT.On August 12th, 2009, BELO changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following:
I'LL CHANGE MY ORIGINAL COMMENTS ON HANKS IRIS GARDEN. THERE WAS A MISCOMMUNITATION PROBLEM WITH THEM. OBVIOUSLY LOUISE HAD A PROBLEM WITH HER E-MAILS AND WE GOT THIS MATTER ALL SQUARED AWAY. I GOT THE IRISES I ORDERED AND THEN SOME. THE ONES I RECEIVED TODAY WERE FAT, SASSY AND FRESH AND READY TO GO IN MY GARDEN
AND AS YOU ALL KNOW LOUISE IS A LOVELY LADY TO DO BUSINESS WITH, AND I WILL SURELY ORDER FROM HER AGAIN AND WOULD RECCOMEND HER TO ALL IRIS LOVERS. SHE BENDS OVER BACKWARDS TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY. I HAVE MADE A NICE FRIEND WHO HAS A COMMON INTEREST.

I was lucky enough to participate in an iris co-op supplied by Hanks in 2007. Like everyone else, all good stuff=) Very happy with my iris and the great communication. When I find room for more--I will definitely be returning to Hank's.

Rhizomes were nice sized and fresh. We had a small problem that was resolved. Very generous with bonuses. Good and PROMPT communications. Would order from Hank's again and recommend them.
I order 14 iris from Hank's (Louise) and I got 20. Like others there were a couple iris that I purchased that she was out of and she substituted with iris that are better choices than the ones I made. She continually updated me as to when she was digging the iris, boxing and shipping. Not only have I found a very reliable iris grower but I have also found a friend in Louise. If I ever think of purchasing more iris she is the person I will go to.

Approximately 10 days ago I ordered 25 Iris from Hanks. There were outages. In each instance, Louise substituted iris that were better/more expensive. Further she sent approximately 10 bonus iris--and they weren't "throwaways", but full sized top of the line rhizomes. Still further I received all of them on yesterday. They arrived VERY fresh, in excellent condition, and well identified. The size is excellent.
Although I "spoke" with her only via e-mail, she seems very personable, and bends over backward to assist in any way possible. She responds to emails very quickly--more often than not, within hours.
Last, I have spent many days, perusing the internet for iris, the prices just don't get any better.
I will definitely do business with her again, and again, and again!!!

Well, the other reviews pretty much say it all--Wonderful experience!!
I had gotten iris as a gift from a friend who ordered them from Louise last fall. I loved them so much, I wanted more and decided to check out Hank's website myself. Boy, I was like a kid in a candy store, such a huge selection. Right after narrowing it down and placing my order, Louise got in touch with me to confirm. She kept in contact regularly, diligently answering any e-mail I sent, even with family birthdays and goings on. She was becoming a friend, and I was just someone who placed an order.
Well that order arrived a little earlier than she had even promised, and boy what an order. I too found almost everything on my sub list in my box, as well as most of my order [ a couple of things were sold out, and she subbed similiar but more expensive plants].
I'm not sure how she does it with prices lower than the big companies, terrific personal service, great selection, good quality, and the best bonuses around. However she does it, I am just glad she does. I will order again and again, it will take many more big orders before I get at least one of most of what she sells. I ordered again, how could I not with such a wonderful experience. Guess what? Yeap, things were even better this time. Yes, she kept me informed with several e-mails, still had the great selection and prices, sent them out promptly, they were all healthy--- but the new part is they now come with permanent metal markers! Each iris has a metal tag secured with wire, that has been engraved with the name. Now I don't have to rush getting the signs made. If my hubby throws them in a pile [by accident of course!] they can be separated and still know exactly what is what. I couldn't be more elated to find such a great place to buy iris of all types, and she's a Dave's garden member to boot. I ordered from Hank's. Later I rec'd a letter in the mail. Louise (owner) was trying to find me! My Paypal email addy was incorrect. I called her to give my updated information. She wanted to know other plants I might enjoy having, in case a substitution was necessary. She didn't want to "blindly" send me something! She was very professional, courteous, and kind. She went the extra yard for me! I am waiting to receive my plants, but I am sure they will be excellent, too!

my experience with Hanks Iris Garden.was professional and courteous , Was a pleasure doing business with her ,my order was recived in good condition,also was very generous with extras . i will definatly order from her again.
Assistance was given on types of blooms, reblooms, etc. Because this was my first experience with iris I was given planting instructions as well. The shipment was received in good condition and promptly. I would definitely order from this garden again.
Great customer service, I felt like I was their only one. Large rhizomes, plus extras. Fast shipping. What more could you ask for. I will definitely buy from them again!!!

Hank's Iris Garden, located in the city of Chino, California, was established in 2003. I offer over 500 tall-bearded iris including many rebloomers.
I grew up on the property, although I don't live there now, my mother still resides there. My father, Hank, rode around on his John Deere taking care of corn and other vegetables where the iris are now grown. My dad passed away in 2001 and I have dedicated the garden to my dad, thank you dad for making me the gardener that I am and mom, thank you for all of your help!
