Both times I received hosta with large healthy roots and multiple eyes. Several of the hosta were minis and still were quite large. The latest order I place for Golden Woge had 8 eyes. Great communication and nice packing. I don't understand how a nursery can accept an order from a customer and almost 12 weeks later tell them they cannot ship the plants.
Since placing the order with Mason Hollow Nursery I have also ordered (and received) ferns from a nursery in Canada who had these three species available. If I had been informed sooner, I would have added the plants to the Canadian order and would have the plants by now.
Not a good experience.

I agree with previous comments, that the couple are delightful and so eager to discuss hostas and anything gardening related. They truly enjoy what they do and are so extremely helpful to find the perfect hosta.
Unfortunately, after I caught the hosta bug, I discovered voles were overruning my gardens and were very fond of hosta, so I haven't been back since. But I have my vole problem under control a bit and am anxious to go back and get some more. Mason Hollow is absolutely THE best place for hosta.

The dicentra exima are much larger than expected, and the heucheras didn't disappoint me this year either. Mason Hollow is high on my 'recommend' list. | | Positive | Charlena (3 reviews) | On May 31, 2006, Charlena Holden, MA wrote: I was at Mason Hollow today and was very impressed. The wife of the team was exceptionally friendly and they had a very large selection of hostas. Most were very good sized and she assured us that it was the size of their mail order plants. I wouldn't hesitate to tecommend them to anyone. | | Positive | Hostadad (1 review) | On July 21, 2005, Hostadad Melrose, MA wrote: Went there this past weekend, purchased 5 plants. The nursery is run by a husband and wife team, both realy nice people. They were both extremely friendly and helpful. We spent close to an hour walking the nursery and talking about hosta sizes, colors, shade preferences. etc... They showed me the numerous specimen plants on the property, some sports they are growing and some of their breeder stock. They even took the time to show my kids pictures of some bears they had photographed. This is a realy exceptional nursery with well over 500 hosta varieties in stock at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this nursery. |
