After researching which varieties might stand up to Louisiana heat and humidity, I researched who had what I wanted and placed good-size orders with five different companies who were highly rated here. I have received all the orders now, and I can say without hesitation that Daylily Haven & Iris Gardens offers a great selection of bearded iris that will perform well in Southern climates. Also, Nina is very giving with her advice on which iris would be good selections for your area (if you call or write when it's not digging time!). I received healthy, clean, well labeled rhizomes... though the packaging could be improved. Other vendors sent their rhizomes in shredded newspaper, which allowed the rhizomes to stay dry. Nina's arrived wrapped in full sheets of paper and some of them were damp and beginning to mildew... apparently having absorbed humidity along the way to my house. Of course, in a less humid environment, this would not be an issue at all. One other area of improvement would be in keeping up with what's being sent versus what was ordered. Several of my rhizomes were accidentally included in someone else's order. Nina included a note stating this, but did not offer a refund for these or state when she would be sending these to me. Also, two rhizomes were left out and not mentioned in the communication at all. I will be writing to Nina to find out what to do about these. On the positive, Nina sent some lovely bonus selections, for which I am very grately. Overall, I found Nina's excellent selection and price to far outweigh any glitches I encountered. I am happy with my experience and will definitely order from Daylily Haven & Iris Garden in the future. On August 1st, 2008, BlissfulGarden added the following:
I received an email back from Nina (just sent one to her last night) addressing the missing rhizomes. She is sending me a refund for the rhizomes that were accidentally sent to someone else and also for those which were not ready for sale (too small, attacked by rodents, etc.) The fourth missing rhizome I had apparently placed on my "wish" list rather than on my order list... so that was MY mistake!!! Excellent response time and very reasonable resolution to the situation. After waiting for over 10 days, Nina still had not responded to my e-mail, so I e-mailed her again. She did answer! however.......She (not so nicely) told me it was "daylily season not iris ". She did not offer a refund.
She said she sent and thought I would like "Burning Oak" instead of the one I ordered (because the other had smaller rhizomes). AND now she wants ME to pay out of my own pocket to send the wrong iris she purposely sent me - back to her if I want "Bronzette Star".
Her response was news to me, because she labeled it "Bronzette Star" (not "Burning Oak") and never told me what she did. On the order form - - I wrote no substitutions.
I told her I did not agree with paying shipping expenses to send it back when it was not my mistake, but that I would pay for it anyway. I believe this is the first time I've ever had to pay shipping costs to send something back to a company for a mistake the business PURPOSELY made (and PURPOSELY labeled wrong) assuming I would like something else better.
Sadly, I have no way of knowing if she'll send me the right now this time. Others that I ordered from her last year did not bloom this year, so I'm now wondering if they are wrong too.
If this transaction changes for the good - - I'll change the rating. I believe in giving 2nd and 3rd chances.

Update: Nina has kindly offered to reimburse the shipping cost on the return of this iris. We are currently e-mailing each other back and forth now in hopes of working this out. I had made the check out to Daylily Haven (my error). Mrs. Morgan would not cash my check. I asked her to return it so that I could send her another one made out to her personally, as she requested.
I did not receive my original check back. I sent her three e-mails, and got no answer from her. I called her telephone number 5 or 6 times before I finally was able to get in touch with her. She said she had sent the original check back, but I have not received it, as of August 10.
I sent her a second check and she sent me most of the daylilies that I ordered. Upon opening the box and sorting out the daylilies, I discovered two were missing from my order: 1) Elegantissima and 2) Vintage Bordeaux. I sent her an e-mail advising her of this. She replied that her husband had put money in the box refunding me the cost of Elegantissima, and that she had sent Vintage Bordeaux in the box. I wrote her back, telling her that I had received no money in the box and no Vintage Bordeaux.
I have yet to hear from her. I am of the opinion that enough time has gone by that I should have received either the missing daylilies or a refund.
While her plants were nice, fresh and clean, I would never purchase anything else from her.
