The staff members were courteous and knowledgeable and I received excellent information about planting and caring for my beautiful and healthy young tree. | | Positive | Texas_Aggie (3 reviews) | On May 10, 2008, Texas_Aggie Huntsville, TX wrote: I purchased two lychee trees from Pine Island Nursery.
In my ten year's experience of purchasing numerous products via mail order, I have never seen anything that was packed so well. The delivery was sent via DHL which also improved the handling factor. The customer service was outstanding. Please check their web page when looking for exotic tropical fruit. I will shop here again because of their loyalty to their customers!

Any company who tells me this (possiblity of losing money), wanting to save me from having frost-bitten plants is a good company.
I am going to order in March.
I know i have not puchased from them, but I thought people here would want to know my personal experience with them. | | Positive | gardeningnew (1 review) | On August 31, 2007, gardeningnew Miami, FL wrote: New home, new trees in Southwest Miami. The Pine Island Nursery's website is amazing and very, very helpful; we were able to educate ourselves about what type of fruit tree we may plant before we set out to view and purchase them.
The staff is wonderful. When we arrived they took us out into the nursery to choose our trees. The gentleman gave us great advice on the type of trees we were purchasing and how to plant and care for our trees. We got our trees on August 1st, 2007.
The trees are doing amazing! We purchased three different types of Mangos, the miracle mango (a miracle tree it is!); Mallika, and Glenn; a Simmonds Avocado; three papayas, and one Meyer Lemon. In only one month we see little mangoes forming and lots of flowering on the Miracle Mango; growth everyday on the other trees and have already enjoyed one Meyer Lemon that was getting too heavy for the little branch it was on.
I highly recommend anyone purchasing fruit trees to visit the website and visit in person (if possible) the PIN; their trees are like a part of their family and they know each tree well and are extremely knowledgable and helpful. All of their trees are very healthy and they have a great selection to choose from. | | Positive | FishMang (1 review) | On May 6, 2007, FishMang Valkaria, FL (Zone 9b) wrote:Purchased 2 abiu and 2 mango trees from Pine Island Nursery. The staff is incredibly friendly and the owner takes pride in the quality of his plants. The prices are also reasonable. | | Positive | ssciort (1 review) | On October 1, 2005, ssciort Houston, TX wrote: I have purchased Lancetilla, Carrie & Cogshall Mangos, Ruby Red Guava and Black Gold Jakfruit from Pine Island. This nursery is wonderful. I am able to research on my own through their website and then when I call them they give me personalized service - including recommendations on the best trees for my location. The shipping costs may seem high, but the trees are well packaged and make it through delivery with no damage. If you have to purchase through mail-order I definitely recommend using Pine Island. If you are near enough to be able to purchase there in person I'm envious. | | Positive | MsJam (1 review) | On July 29, 2005, MsJam Rockledge, FL wrote: I went to visit their nursery to purchase a mango tree, an employee aproached me and helped me all the way! He was very knowledgeble and very friendly. Their nursery is just awesome, the people there definitely takes care of their stock and it shows. I will definitely be back their again when I visit Miami again. They are also very fair with their pricing.
| | Positive | Fairycroft (1 review) | On March 9, 2005, Fairycroft Highland Park, FL wrote: In an attempt to recreate something of her grandmothers garden, I ordered my wife some of Pine Islands 3 gallon Mulberry trees. The staff was wonderful and infomative via email, and our trees arrived a full day sooner than expected, hale and hearty. We had a cold snap immediately after their arrival, and the trees had to stay indoors for a week before planting. Two days after we got them planted, one of them was already flowering! My wife and I couldn't be happier. We will definately be ordring form them again | | Positive | datapias (1 review) | On August 17, 2004, datapias Jacksonville, FL wrote: I love this company! I recently purchased 2 mango trees from them. They were very helpful, assisted me with selecting the varieties that would do best in my zone and gave me tips on how to maitain them. Their prices are excellent. My plants arrived in great shape and are doing fantastic. I'm going to visit them personally very soon. Their website is wonderful. | | Positive | sialia (7 reviews) | On July 29, 2004, sialia Hope, AR wrote: I highly recommend Pine Island Nursery for tropical fruit trees. I just received two Mango trees in perfect condition. I mailed in my order on a Monday and they were shipped the following Monday. These are quality trees shipped in their three gallon containers, not bareroot. Prices are excellent and customer service is the best. They have answered all questions I have asked promptly. I will order from them again. On February 27th, 2005, sialia added the following:
I ended up ordering four more trees from Pine Island Nursery: Jakfruit, Lychee, Miracle Fruit, and a Starfruit. My \'Cogshall\' Mango hasn\'t grown at all- it looks exactly like it did the day I got it (it still looks very healthy though), but all the others have grown very well. The lychee has a couple of bloom spikes right now, the \'Ice Cream\' mango has bloomed, and the Miracle Fruit is full of buds. I will definitely order from them again this summer. | | Positive | gcmastiffs (6 reviews) | On July 13, 2004, gcmastiffs Jupiter, FL (Zone 10a) wrote:I recently ordered two Mango trees from Pine Island Nursery. I was contacted right away with the shipping date and shipping costs. Much to my delight, I got my trees a day early (shipped Monday, got them Tuesday) and they are perfect, healthy specimens.
Tha variety viewers on the website are wonderful!
I will definately order from them again.

There are groves and groves of fruiting tropical plants. I approached an employee out in the open field. He immediately stopped what he was doing to help me. I was interested in purchasing a dwarf 'Ice cream' mango and a barbados cherry. He told me honestly that for south florida a 'Carrie' would be much better. He also picked out a Malphigia that was already in fruit and gave me basic instructions, all at a very reasonable price. Whenever I am looking to buy tropical fruits I wouldn't think of going to anyone else for two reasons, selection and customer satisfaction. | | Positive | shoff10058 (3 reviews) | On October 3, 2003, shoff10058 Long Island, NY (Zone 7a) wrote:I had an excellent experience with Pine Island. Their web site is well organized and easy to use. They carry many tropical plants that I have had difficulty finding. I purchased Piper nigrum (black pepper) which was shipped in a 3 gallon container, Synsepalum dulcificum (miracle fruit) in a 3 gallon container, and Hylocereus guatemalensis (dragon fruit / pitaya) in a 1 gallon container.
Their plant sizes are excellent, and the plants seem to be well cared for – the Piper (with multiple leads) is looped around a 3 foot trellis several times, and the Synsepalum is several feet tall and already in bud.
They were responsive and helpful in both emails and phone calls. They shipped promptly and packed the plants perfectly. UPS was slow to deliver, but they certainly have no control over that. I’m confident that the plants will perk up in the next few days.
Because they ship the plants in containers (not bare-root), shipping to New York is costly. However, they do *not* seem to be overcharging for shipping – there is just no cheap way to ship a 4 foot tall, 40 pound box from Florida to New York!
This is one of the best mail-order experiences that I have had. I will undoubtedly do business with them again.

Erik delivered and installed the trees which now one year later are prospering and have doubled in size. Periodic questions and advice sought are answered quickly and completely. A very professional organization providing excellent service and post sale support. I will do business with this company in the future for SURE. |
