Found this company by accident. Placed an order and was very impressed with the service and also with the care and professionalism of my seeds and packaging.
Liked the company so well am ordering more from them. : )

September 27, 2009 | I can only echo what others have written - incredible selection, many hard to find seeds, great communications, answers questions FAST, seeds arrived quicky...well packed and somehow, a couple extra packets sneaked into the mailer..LOL The hand written note added that personal touch that is missing in so many transactions.

September 16, 2009 | I placed an order with Summerhill recently and for some reason my postal carrier didn't feel like leaving the envelope (which would have fit easily in my mailbox) and left my pick up notice in the neighbors box. A couple weeks later the neighbor gave me the notice and my seeds had been returned to sender as I hadn't gone to the PO to pick them up. I emailed Robyn and offered to send payment for postage if they would resend my order. She very kindly and quickly declined my offer of postage money and resent my order (with fresh seeds) which arrived safe and sound. All emails were responded to and I really appreciate them going so far to make sure my seeds made it to me. The reasons I didn't receive them had absolutely nothing to do with them and still they went above and beyond when they didn't have to.
Really happy with my experience and will be returning for more---give them a try! |

September 05, 2009 | I know it is a funny time of the year to order seeds....but I like to take a good look toward the end of my growing season and start planning for the next year....I'm already looking forward to next spring. I find the end of summer is a great time to order, you don't have to deal with the spring rush..
I placed an order on-line with Summer Hill Seeds. What a great experience. I received a few e-mails just to inform me of the status of my order....WOW! When I received my seeds, Robin had included 2 free packets of seeds, based on what I had already purchased...again, WOW! She is good...the seeds are right up my alley. I also received a HANDWRITTEN thank you. Now ask yourself, how many seed companies actually hand write thank you's to their customers?
With this kind of customer service, and keep in mind I think I only spent $30.....I will be a repeat customer....as well as telling my garden friends how great is was to order from this company...two thumbs up to Robin and her team! |

I ordered on April 4 and received my seeds on April 12th. Carefully packaged and with three free packets and a handwritten thank you! Excellent source. |

Not only was the shipping prompt and the instructions clear to understand, the extra packets of seeds and handwritten personal note from Robin were a very nice touch! The one packet of seeds sprouted in less than 24 hours after planting them per her instructions! (With the help of heat mats and fluorescent lights.) I already have placed a 2nd order and again, she has generously given a couple extra packs which I am excited to grow! After I lost my email for a discount, they followed through and offered an even better one--they are definitely worth ordering from! Thanks, Summerhill! |

Even though this time it was a small order-3 packs-Robin sent an extra pack of another kind of seed that she thought I might like. The information on how to grow the seed is clearly written on the pack. Plus she sends along a flyer describing the method she has used to successfully grow the seeds. I also ordered seeds from other places at the same time. Still waiting for those. The seeds from Summer Hill, on the other hand, arrived so fast it almost made my head spin! :-) In a good way, of course. They were packaged superbly, came with a lovely handwritten thank-you note, and even some freebie seeds. And the seed packets have detailed instructions on them as well. Combine all of that stellar service with their great selection - and I'll definitely be ordering from them again! Couldn't have been a better experience...... |

February 08, 2009 | The most outstanding thing is the communication; from order confirmation, date shipped, through the follow-up email the day after they arrive to remind you not to let them sit out in the mailbox. I wish all the other companies would take heed - Robin has set the bar.
Prices are reasonable and plant selection is interesting. It's the first time I've found allamanda "cherries jubilee" seeds. Can't wait to see if I can get one going.
Order was completed in eight days; packaging was great; there were seed starter instructions, free seeds and the handwritten note.
I'll be ordering again. Thanks, Robin; keep it up. |

I love the frequent updates on the progress of the order, fast shipping and the personal note with the order.

January 24, 2009 | Received my seeds 6 days after placing my internet order. I was notified by email as to the statice of the order. The seed packets have very good instructions on sowing/germination, however the height and general growing instructions are missing. Had to go back to look for information as to sun/ shade ect. for setting out the plants into the garden.
The petunia seeds are well packaged and more seeds in the pack then larger seed companies offer and lower price.
I will be ordering from this company again.

I feel the need to update my review. I will probably order more seeds from SH but be more selective and order the seed that I have trouble finding. I had bad luck germinating the petunia seeds. I have had better experence with petunia seeds from other companies.
The Linaria and coleus seeds did great.
Maybe it was just a bad year for petunia seeds.

Robin just contacted me.. Boy is she fast. She has offered to replace or exchange for another verity the seeds I had problems with.
I do feel that the service is top notch, better then any large seed companies. But the end results, growing season are important.

I also received special instructions for the seeds, besides the instructions on the seed packets. I also received extra seeds as well. from the moment I ordered the seeds, I had emails notifying every step of the seeds being processed to when they where delivered.
The whole process was very personalized, I am totally impressed.

My order was shipped just a day or two after placing it, and it arrived by the end of the same week. These aren't commercial packets, but rather glassine envelopes within little plastic bags, but they are well marked, with clean seed and the seed counts are very generous. They also gifted some seeds that were very much the kind I would have chosen for myself. I had ordered all variegated varieties, and the gift seeds were also for variegated plants. Putting that kind of thought into an order is impressive. I will definately be ordering from these folks again! A wonderful experience in every way!

Super fast shipping to Alaska, a personal, handwritten note, great packaging with individual directions...and bonus seeds to top it all off. It was obvious she took the time to select bonus seeds that would complement what I'd purchased, along with taking my growing conditions into account. The website is easy to navigate, a pleasure to peruse and complete (meaning pictures, not just descriptions)...I will ditto all the other positive reviews...and then add 5 stars on top! |
