|It is not possible to order from this nursery online, so I sent in an order form from a plant I could not locate elsewhere (pink woodruff or Phuopsis). After not hearing anything for many weeks, I finally contacted the nursery. While I had not been charged, I was also faced with an empty spot in the garden I had reserved for these plants. After a few days I received a terse reply that due to crop failure they could not fill the order. Of course there is nothing that can be done about crop failure, but it would have been nice to know sooner that my order was cancelled without having to chase down the information.

I just saw the company rep's response, and I regret if I misunderstood the situation. I will email them to indicate that I would certainly be happy to accept the plants if they become available (though I since filled the spot I left for them, one can always find a little room to squeeze interesting new plants into).
Company representative comment on June 5, 2007:

I agree that we should have notified you of the status sooner. The cold
spring snap and increased ordering were more work than I anticipated,
and I fell behind notifying customers.
I am sorry that you felt my reply was terse regarding crop failure. I
thought it was a friendly and hopeful response (the plants might still be
alive), and your subsequent reply left me feeling like you understood and
that I should keep trying to find a solution, including fall delivery. Even
though our plants were confirmed to be dead last week, I have continued
to look for sources so that we could fill your order.
What it sounds like is that we needed to communicate with you more
after your reply to let you know that we have continued to look. As far as
we were concerned, the order was not canceled and you would not be
charged until your order was filled (the order form was checked to
'backorder unavailable plants and notify'). Please let us know if you wish
to cancel the order at this point or if we should leave it open. I'm
sincerely sorry for any confusion or communication gaps that we caused.

|I ordered 10 Clethra alnifolia 'Sixteen Candles'...the packaging was outstanding and the plants are some of the best I've ever seen anywhere. All communications were speedy, thoughtful and extremely helpful. I highly recommend them to one and all. And the owner, a true plantsman, is one peachy fella! Altogether, it was an outstanding experience.
