The scoop on 'Beaver Creek Nursery'

I needed some hollies that would grow rapidly in partial shade and were hardy to zone 5. I also wanted dark green leaves and red berries. This site seemed promising, so I called with questions as to which of their many hollies would be the best. I talked to Dwayne, one of the nicest, most patient people on the planet. He answered all of my questions and helped me choose a variety and a pollinator. I also ordered some Asarum splendens, which he warned me were a little sun-damaged, but assured me that they were healthy. When the ordered arrived this spring, the plants were beautifully packaged, and huge! The ginger looked great, nice and healthy as promised, and the hollies were amazing. Very nice plants, reasonably priced. I will definitely order from them again.

I would like to enthusiastically recommend Beaver Creek Nursery of Knoxville, TN.

I recently placed my first order with them for six plants. The owners, Brenda and Mike, handled my order personally, and they could not have been friendlier or more accommodating to my needs. Their communication via phone and email was professional, while remaining warm and laid-back. The plants themselves arrived very quickly and in great condition. They were all beautiful, carefully tended specimens.

It's also worth mentioning that Beaver Creek Nursery specializes in plants that are difficult -- or even very difficult -- to find. A few examples of hard-to-find cultivars that they sell are: Myrica cerifera 'Hiwassee', Viburnum bracteatum 'Emerald Luster', Bignonia capreolata 'Atrosanguinea', and Illicium floridanum 'Halley's Comet', all of which are superior selections of native North American plants.

Beaver Creek's prices and shipping charges are also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the plants you receive. I could not find a better price for similarly sized Gaultheria procumbens plants, and I could not find Myrica cerifera 'Hiwassee' anywhere else at any price!

I will certainly order from Beaver Creek Nursery again, and I encourage others to give them a try as well.

Wow, great plants at a very reasonable price.

I purchased 3 woody plants from Beaver Creek and all came in excellent condition, and all plants were just slightly beyond bud-break so all plants were alive and well. (I had ordered late last fall and had requested spring delivery due to our fairly severe winters.) My plants were shipped when requested and my credit card was not charged until just before delivery.

The box was slightly damaged when received, but because of the great packaging, none of the plants sustained any damage.

A grade "A+" class act, nursery.

I will definitely order from them again.

Since the fall of 2002, I have purchased over 50 perennials, shrubs and trees from Beaver Creek Nursery in Knoxville TN. Of all those plants, I had one maple leaf viburnum that never leafed out this spring and they immediately replaced it. I have found Mike and Brenda to be helpful and very knowledgeable and feel that I can recommend their nursery very highly.

I have not mail-ordered plants from Beaver Creek Nursery because I reside here in Knoxville. So I have the wonderful opportunity to visit the nursery and personally purchase my plants. Since October of 2001 I have purchased a total of ten trees from them and ALL are doing great! Mike and Brenda are wonderful with their plants and their customers. The plants and roots are all very healthy and if planted correctly will grow like weeds(a 2 foot tall Trident maple I bought from them 2 years ago is now 10 feet tall).They have many plants you can't find anywhere else and a lot of the plants they offer are not even in their catalog so ask about them. Needless to say, I highly recommend them!

Small catalog with accurate descriptions. Reasonably priced materials which is delivered quickly and well packaged.

I live in North Carolina, but often travel to Knoxville, Tennessee. I visited this nursery one afternoon and was really impressed with their inventory. They have the plants you read about in the magazines and usually have to order from one of the great "Oregon" nurseries. I think their catalog only has SOME of their offerings, so if you are looking for a certain plant, be sure to ask about it. Generally 1 gallon size, but some 3/5 gallon also. I ordered 3-gallon size shrubs-Fothergilla, Corylopsis, Osmanthus, Acer "beni kawa". I couldn't fit them in my car, so they were shipped on Monday via UPS. They arrived well packed and in good condition on Wednesday. I am thrilled to have found such a great source on the East Coast!!!
