I will never use them again. They do not return calls or emails submitted using their website. After 6 weeks they have still not shipped my order and I cannot get in contact with them to find out what is going on. I did not check their ratings before I purchased from them. My mistake.
Working with Mark can be a terrifically frustrating experience - even while he is a truly nice guy who will pass on his knowledge of ponds to you. The advice I was given by a local pond expert who knows Mark very well is to NEVER pay Mark for a product or service until you have received it!!! Unfortunately for me, I had paid him up front, so it was too late for me. Mark is the kind of guy who will give you lots of "freebies" - but they come with a price!
Mark was recommended to me by someone I thought I could trust and I only found out, on my own, that his BBB rating is an F. Check out the San Diego BBB and think twice before paying for something in advance. You might never see it.

I placed an online order with KDSD in September 2007. After 2 and a half weeks and no product, I attempted to contact KDSD and received no reply to emails or phone calls. PayPal handled the transaction and the charge of $69.00 appeared on my credit card. After more email attempts and no response, I registered a dispute with the seller through PayPal and within a week received the following reply:
"Dear Mr. Filla,
After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer Complaint described below.
We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.
Please know that we will make our best effort to recover the funds in question if they become available in the seller's account in the future and will take appropriate action against the seller. Such action may include issuing a warning, a temporary restriction, or terminating the account. Keep in mind that PayPal uses a number of factors to determine when to take action, including member complaints. Due to privacy laws, we cannot discuss the details of any action taken. We hope you understand our policy and that it assures you that you are safe using PayPal."
I responded to PayPal's telling them that if I had the option to use my credit card to make this purchase I most certainly would have been credited the amount of the purchase. With PayPal in the middle, this fraudulent seller is protected from retribution for not delivering the goods they say they will provide and will hesitate if forced to use PayPal's service in the future.
I wish I had seen this site before attempting to purchase something from KDSD.

This has been the WORST service I have ever received from any company that I have done business on-line! If you are thinking about ordering something from Koi Depot of San Diego - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! I placed an order online with payment on July 23 with a shipping commitment of two weeks. After three weeks and repeated calls to the company as well as emails - without ONE answer I have given up. I will be calling the BBB on this company. I repeat - unless you physically go into the store and buy something DO NOT ORDER ON-LINE FROM THIS COMPANY! Company representative comment on August 18, 2007: On Aug 17, 2007 5:28 PM, KDSD Koi Depot of San Diego added:
Per your own instrutions at bottom of order under "Special Delivery Information" your comment was:"I need this quickly. If you do not have any in stock please let me know"
I left a phone message that I placed on July 24th at 8 am our time(703-660-1231). I did let you know that we didn't have in stock and also cancelled the credit card charge as well on the 24th of July. You can contact your bank to find that out as well, here is the transaction ID # to help you: 1501762415. It was for $71.00 if this is any help.
Thats fine if you want to contact BBB, I will email all the doc's I have to backup what am stateing to the BBB via email. I feel we did everything that you ask us to in your instructions to us, am sorry that you didn't receive your phone messages that day or someone may have overlooked taking it down for you. If you would like me to send you the same doc's just let me know and I will.
The bottom line is the order was voided by your instructions, based on we just received an order in on this product with no "Sky Blue"in it and only order every 3-4 weeks.
I feel this was unecessary to post a Neg as such............we didn't do anything wrong period. I could understand if you were charged and we had not called you......then that would be right.
At this time I respectfully request that you delete or modify your post. I will also post a rebuttal as well on this matter.
I have been a long-time customer of KoiDepot, and have always received the attention I required, and my orders.
I would like to thank Mark for the tireless hours he has spent helping us get our filtration system up and running just fine. Your service after the sale was great, and I can honestly say that we have absolutely no problems with our pond filtration what so ever.
I had placed an order with Koi Depot of San Diego back on 2/07 for 2 bags of koi feed. The order was confirmed via email and my credit card was soon charged the full amount. Over 2 1/2 weeks passed and I've still yet to see my order. I tried calling them, only to receive an automated message each time. I end up contacting them via their online Contact Us form and hear nothing back. I send them an email to their advertised email address and still hear nothing back. By this time, it's been over 3 weeks. I've never ordered from this company before and it wasn't the most pleasant experience.
I had to contact the BBB and my credit card company for help. The previous thread/posting on Koi Depot helped me tremendously in finding recourse. It worked, someone at KDSD finally responded and have promised to issue a refund.
I hope this thread will help someone who might encounter the same problem in the future, as the previous posting helped me.
I am very concerned about the inattention that seems to be going on concerning my cancelled order #15283646 from KoiDepot of San Diego.
I ordered a Performance Pro pump on October 15, 2006, and the Visa charge cleared my account on October 17 (2 days later).
I called on Monday, October 23 when I had not received a shipping order, and was told that the pump had not been shipped out. The company (Performance Pro) was called, and the order was cancelled. I was told that I would be getting a refund of the $618.91.
I called again on November 1, when I had not received the refund, and was told that it must have just been overlooked, and that it would sent.
It is now November 3, and I have not received the refund on my Visa account. I have emailed and called KoiDepot of San Diego and talked with agentleman on numberous times, but with no result as of today.
This company does not meet my expectations for good service, when I was charged for an order two days after the order has been placed, but the part has not been shipped. Then it is taken several calls and over a week, with no results on the refund of the order.
I will continue to try and get some satisfaction from this company, but wanted to let other consumers know that they should be careful when working with KoiDepot.
