Company Comment, posted on January 23, 2007:
I am just a small backyard gardener who loves plants. Vines offer more options for growing in small spaces, so I started collecting. My specialties are Passiflora and Aristolochia, but I have many rare tropical vines and plants. After listing on E-Bay for 5 years, and 4000 sales later, I still have a rating of 99.8 which I am very proud of and have worked hard to maintain. I am especially concerned with service, and keeping in touch with my customers wishes. I will always do everything that I possibly can to make my customers as happy with their plants as I am with mine.

I am very pleased to receive my banana plants w/in 3 days in perfect condition and larger then I expected, great price w/ shipping included you couldnt ask for anymore. I ordered a passionflower from Georgia Vines.
The post office had mishandeled the package and the formerly beautiful long and well rooted vine was broken at the
ground level. Ms. Rubel was kind enough to replace the vine with another healthy one of the same species without complaint.

I found GEORGIA VINES on eBay when I was looking for unusual vines. I placed an order online and got the plants very quickly. 3 of the vines were about 12" long and I was very impressed with them. One vine (antigonon) was barely a 2" piece of thread with one leaf on it. It had barely any roots and should NEVER have been sent. 2 ruellias I bought were also tiny, short stem and one leaf-barely rooted cuttings.
The plants are rooted and shipped in CHEAP plastic (NOT STYROFOAM) cups. All my cups had cracked in shipment and their was dry soil everywhere. I had to re-pot everything in decent 4" pots and except for the 3 large vines the others will have to be nursed along.

I have no problem with buying rooted cuttings. Many plants are propagated that way. I do have a problem with plants sent out before they have a good root system . 4 of my purchases should have been given AT LEAST another month to root before they were shipped. The prices were HIGH for such tiny, barely rooted cuttings.

I was impressed with the variety and the fast shipping. I was impressed with 1/2 my order. I was underwhelmed by the other half of the order. I am feeling I should leave a NEUTRAL but will leave a POSITIVE. I know this nursery is a back-yard operation run by a real plant lover so will give the benefit of the doubt.

I found Lori Rubel's website, " Georgia Vines" when I was looking for new kinds of Milkweeds to grow. I found many new and ususual Asclepias and placed two seed orders. Both came promptly and with excellent germination instructions. I am now planning to order more seed and I'm looking over her plant selection as well.

All the plants arrived promptly, and I was really happy that I was home when they did. I took them out of their wrapping and followed your instructions to the letter. Sure they looked a little stressed, but they perked up after the following day. I also gave them a light misting of water in the evening, for the first week they were under my care. The main trick with passion flower vines is to keep them moist, with good drainage. They are now in their hanging basket getting settled in to start growing into mature vines. They are good healthy little starts, and it was great doing business with your garden. Thanks, Stan

I hate to be the first one to leave a negative feedback here, but I am very unhappy with my experience with Georgia Vines.
I ordered a Passiflora and a Vigna Caracalla. When I received my order, I thought the size of the "plants" was a joke. Actually, I wouldn't even call them plants, but "rooted cuttings". The Passiflora barely had roots. The Vigna C. was merely a twig, with falling yellow leaves. I am pretty seasoned when it comes to purchasing plants online, and given the good reviews, I thought I would give the "plants" a chance before contacting them.
I saw no progress in 2-3 weeks, and Dmailed them to resolve the situation in a friendly manner. I even offered to send pictures to illustrate my complaint. (and I will be happy to send these pictures to whoever wants to see).
I am yet to receive a response!!!
On September 5th, 2008, robcorreia changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following:

I finally heard back from Georgia Vines. She was very kind and right away offered to replace the plants I received in bad condition with new ones, which she did promptly.

Although the plants are indeed just starters with a baby root system - and I believe this should be stated more clearly on the website - I will turn my rating to a positive. Customer service to me is extremely important, and I did feel valued as a customer when she offered to help improve my experience in any way she could. The replacements I received came in much better condition.

I will be happy to buy from them again when shopping for hard to find vines I cannot purchase as larger specimens elsewhere.

Too bad there is not a "Beyond Expections" experience box to check for Georgia Vines, because Lori certainly deserves that rating.
I emailed her about my problem area and what would survive in my zone and heat. She quickly emailed me with suggestions.
My order was promply shipped...the vines were so well packaged; each vine looked as if she had plucked them from her garden that morning and hand carried them to me. I was amazed how these vines survived 100+ F temps to TX and arrived looking so fresh. I would gladly order from Lori again.
BTW: the vines are thriving here in the TX sun.

I purchased an italian jasmine plant from this company at Daves Marketplace. Lori was very helpful, she sent the required information & it was a smooth transaction. However, i received a showy jasmine plant. I informed Lori of the mix up & she IMMEDIATELY responded with an apology & PROMPTLY sent me an italian jasmine plant.
I appreciate the personal & courteous customer service.
As i say i will not hesitate to order from georgiavines again, i have placed another order for this wonderful plant from this ever so Gracious seller.
Thanks Lori.
On July 22nd, 2008, Ammu added the following:

In all the excitement i forgot to write a note about the packaging. I think it deserves special mention.
Perfect, Professional is what comes to mind. Very nicely done. & the special note to the postal carrier to leave it in an area away from the hot sun adds a nice touch & keeps the plants from overheating.
Thanks again Lori.

I pressed something on the computer and botched my
former message-anyway.... Received a very healthy
Passiflora Edulis (purple/black skin fruit-passion fruit)
from Georgia Vines two days after I ordered it. Am very
satisfied with the service and plant and plan to "stuff my
face" and my friends faces with beautiful passion fruit
next year. Passiflor Edulis has been impossible to find
here in Sacramento, Ca., at nurseries or on line. Thanks
again Lori.

I am very happy with my macadamia seedling. It was shipped in less than a week and arrived in healthy condition. It was well packaged and even had directions for the postman to put it in the shade for me. :) Instructions were included in the packaging and some were e-mailed to me and I really appreciated it because I never received a seedling in the mail. I would definitely shop here again!

Always easy to deal with. Have ordered banana seeds several times(ebay, and store), and had very good germination percentages. I'm glad someone has some of the more rare banana seeds in the US, otherwise you have to order more than you need from over seas.

I ordered a macademia nut tree (plant) and a whole list of passifloras, phormium, hibiscus, and aristolochia (pipevine) seeds. The tree (seedling) is a bit smaller than expected ($15) but extremely good looking and well packed. It arrived very fast and is a happy little champ. Then I had the pleasant surprise of finding 3 extra packets of bonus seeds, all listed for zone 8. Lori was also very responsive and helpful with my questions (emails), even AFTER I received the order.
Now I have just one concern (provided I can get the seeds to germinate LOL): will they make it outdoors in my zone 8a? All plants/seeds ordered are listed as hardy in zone 8, but subsequent research of other sites list them as 9 or even 10.

And speaking of zones: Does anyone know a RELIABLE site for zone hardiness? I find all kinds of discrepancies, sometimes as much as 2 whole zones, one nursery says zone 8, others say 10. Which one to trust? Any input anyone? I assume nurseries might push the envelope to sell their plants, but sometimes you just can not resist, the plants are exquisite and you just HAVE to try them...But at least you don't buy 10 different ones, like I did, instead, go easy with just one or two.
I would very much appreciate any info on macademia and pipevines, if any one has been successful with them in zone 8a? Thanks.

I am going to say "ditto" to what a previous customer said about Georgia Vines:

" I ordered a Bleeding Heart Vine (in March) and received the plant (less than a week later....all the way up here in Wisconsin!). The vining plant was packed so well I doubt it suffered postal handling. I especially liked how tape was wrapped around the mouth of the pot to keep soil inside, and a moist paper towel + shredding was packed around the base of the vine. "

This plant was in the best condition of any mail order plant I have ever received and larger than I had expected! I will definately order from this place again!

I have never ordered a live plant online before. Georgia Vines made the experience painless. I ordered a Bleeding Heart Vine on February 3rd and received the plant on February 6th. The vining plant was packed so well I doubt it suffered postal handling. I especially liked how tape was wrapped around the mouth of the pot to keep soil inside, and a moist paper towel + shredding was packed around the base of the vine. I followed the immediate care insturctions, to ease any stress, repotted a week after receipt, and my vine is doing great, even though St. Louis has had very few sunny days this month.

I ordered two different Asristolocia plants and they were packed extremely well, but, one had almost no root system and could probably been a new cutting at best just starting to get a couple of roots but was healthy. The other one did have a good root system. They were sent in a very timely fashion and shipping was free.
On December 11th, 2007, Gourd changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following:

As of date, 12-11-07, I've sent 3 e-mails regarding the plant and asked for replacement. I've not received any response from this seller. The plant did not recuperate and I landed up with one small dried stem. At 20.00 per plant, I would still like a replacement, but there seems to be no communication. I did not know whether to leave a neutral rating or not since that is not an accurate rating, so decided on Negative. I will change this if and when appropriate.
On January 26th, 2008, Gourd changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following:

I want to add that this seller has refunded me for one plant and they have sent another plant, plus a free one. I have not been able to keep the plant alive, but it could be the wrong time of year, I just don't know what to say.

They truly seem very concerned about their email problems and have tried to rectify everything. I really appreciate that.

I received an Aristolochia labeosa vine from Georgia Vines, and it was a robust transplant, with nice root system and active growing stems. The vendor offers rarely seen vines at reasonable prices. The plant arrived very well packed and protected that indicated the seller took a lot of time and care shipping it out, yet there was no charge for shipping. Highly recommended A+++++!

On June 5th, 2008, Gerris2 added the following:

I bought an Passiflora mollisima plant from their web site. It was smooth sailing, paid using PayPal, and got my plant within 1 week of purchase. Happy happy happy!
